I have been visiting London Zoo since 1965 and have seen various animals over the years. I enjoyed seeing the hoolock gibbons, velvet worms, markhors, gharial, douc langur and angwantibos, as well as Goldie the golden eagle and Bruce the Australian lungfish. My favourite individual animal was a hand-reared plumbeous redstart that used to come to the front of its enclosure and bounce about when I visited the Bird House. It was one of the friendliest zoo animals I have ever seen. I would like to see the aye-ayes again and I regret not seeing the Haitian solenodon in 1967.
At the moment I like seeing the beaver rats, Panay cloud rats, coppery titis, naked mole-rats, caecilians and green wood hoopoes.

MrOkapi- I believe the Cincinnati Zoo has Florida Manatees, not the Caribbean subspecies (then again, it changes all the time so I don't know what they have now). And where's the Okapi on your list?:p

I would like to add Aldabra Giant Tortoise and Naked Mole Rat for Smithsonian National Zoo and Fennec Fox for Bronx Zoo (I just find the little guys irresistable:D)

The zoo still has now one Florida manatee, Betsy, after Wooten was just recently freed back into the wild.

Just a note, but he has not been released yet. He has merely been shipped to Florida as of yet. He will live for a period at the Miami Seaquarium before being released.

I swam with wild Caribbean Manatees in Puerto Rico once.

So he's going to live in a hell hole for his final times in captivity?

What do they do when all their manatees are released?

They receive new injured manatees for rehabilitation each time they send other ones free. Some of them may come from the wild (Wooten), Homosassa Springs (Betsy), or other zoos (Illusion, Wooten-Miami Seaquarium). Wooten will be the 11th manatee the zoo has set free. The last manatee was Illusion who was sent free in November 2011. The last group together at the zoo was Lil Jo and Slip that left in 2010.

Favorite Animal at my Zoo

It's the tigers, no doubt. I love tigers but my zoo, the Pittsburgh Zoo, had a rhino birth in September I have to give props for that animal too. Rhinos are such great animals.
