What California's Zoos Have that other U.S. Zoos Don't? :)

JVM makes an excellent point above. California is a year round tourist destination, as opposed to my state of Arizona which is a winter only tourist destination (opposite of many parts of the country which are summer tourist destinations). The amount of money San Diego rakes in surely makes most zoo directors green with envy. Los Angeles Zoo is jam packed on weekends and they must bring in a good amount of money at those times. Fresno Zoo gets millions from their dedicated sales tax revenue.

San Diego is the only city in America that is automatically associated with the zoo (I mean by the general public, not us zoo fans). Monterey is the only city in America that is automatically associated with the aquarium (again by the general public).

To be fair, though, the title is "What California's Zoos Have That Other Zoos Don't",not "What California Native Species Are Exclusive to California's Zoos",so it should still count if they have exotic species not found anywhere else, unless I misread the original poster's intent.
thank you for being my lawyer native animals in California that might not be found one should go to the California Living Museum. However there are no uakaris in other us zoos or scrubfowl and they have the right to be counted.

What about international stars like actors and actresses wich seems that mostly engage with the Golden State zoos, like for example promoting conservation goals. I forgot the name of one old actresses that was commonly pictured within zoos in California - will someone help to name this actresses, it is a cute looking gramma :) ? Because there is Hollywood. That beeing said, California's zoos are zoos in the U.S. where you can most commonly find international known actors and actresses, perhaps even involved in public operations.
Is there was also specific conection of the Santa Barbara zoo with international-known stars?
Oh and yes, Robin Williams (RIP) pictured with the gorilla?

You are likely thinking of Betty White. She isn't connected to all California zoos, but she was/is a monumental force for the L.A. Zoo,and if I recall she pushed for a lot of upgrades. She is (or was up until very recently, though she may still be),on the GLAZA (Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association) board of trustees, and she's in the GLAZA foundation with about 4 other people. She is a treasure. You will not find a donor sign at the Los Angeles Zoo without the name Betty White Ludden. She is an immensely wonderful person.
