Mine is a Black-crowned Night-heron taken at Exmoor Zoo. Pelecaniformes (the long-legged wading birds) are one of my favourite orders in general, and given my poor photography skills I was very happy with this picture. I thought the bold red eyes of the bird looked wonderful and the green grass in the background gives a more natural feel than some other pictures that I took. I was planning on matching it with my username (which is the native name for the Rufous Hornbill, which has been my favourite species since I saw them at Colchester five years ago, as well as a town in Myanmar, which is a strange coincidence I wasn't aware of until I had already created my account), but all the pictures I had of said hornbill had a grey sky as a background, which seemed a little dull and bleak. The green background here is what eventually prompted me to chose it instead.
