In France the Jaguars seem to have gained popularity within last decade, with the building of good enclosures for them in Pessac, Parc des Félins, Parrot World, Vincennes and, overseas, the Zoo de Martinique.
I hope that Beauval - that has just opened a large South American aviary - will follow the move, their current Jaguar enclosure (that houses an elderly pair that has bred several times in the past) looks old-fashioned.
However, the case of France may be very special because it's the only EU country with Jaguars as a native species (thanks to French Guiana).
