I, somehow, have never seen a red river hog. If I did as a kid I do not remember it, was going to a zoo earlier this year with one, but got there and they were all off exhibit due to the bird flu.
What is the most common zoo animal that you haven't seen yet?

Binturong, Pygmy Hippo, and Golden Lion Tamarin come to mind. Aldabra Giant Tortoise as well.

Only been to one of the zoos over here that have Binturong (San Diego) and there weren't any on exhibit at the time afaik.
Pygmy Hippo is the result of me not following the right path far enough in Lost Forest. Turns out I even photographed the exhibit from the skyfari, but no luck there either.
Golden Lion Tamarin went on exhibit at Woodland Park well after my visit and there were none to be seen in Parker Aviary at San Diego either... and haven't made it to any other zoos over here with them yet.
Aldabra Giant Tortoise I probably did see at Oakland - but I have no recollection of them and no photos so no county on the life list.

I don’t know how common they are in captivity, but Nine-Banded Armadillo. I apparently have seen one, but that was over 15 years ago at a birthday party at either the Central Park Zoo or the Bronx Zoo and I only know of it due to photos. It also took me an embarrassingly long time to see any armadillos after that until 2016, where I saw them at the Phoenix Herpetological society (but they were either six-banded or screaming hairy).
I notice your bio says your from Arizona. Does Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum not exhibit nine-banded armadillos? I'd assume that's a staple desert species I'd expect them to exhibit.
Nine-banded Armadillo is not found in Arizona nor the Sonoran Desert region in general.

I haven’t been to the Desert Museum in a hot minute (last visit was in 2017). They supposedly have one in the underground exhibit, though.
It actually is found in the Sonoran Desert - it just barely reaches into the region in southern Sonora, Mexico.

The desert roadkill armadillo is one of those false animal stereotypes I loathe, considering the species is actually a moisture-loving forest dweller!
In Florida it is, but the species has very different habitat requirements in places like Texas. Not really desert, but certainly very dry areas.

True, they can thrive in grassland-type environments as well, as long as there's a good water source nearby and soft soil, tho.
