What is the worst state for zoos? U.S.A edition.

Ok, some of Maine‘s zoos look absolutely disgusting. I might put Maine above Vermont but York’s doesn’t seem too bad...

Will there be a thread for the best state for zoos? This thread is good but i’m more interested in places I would like to visit rather than avoid.
Edit: Or if there is already a thread like this please tell me

I’ll look at the dakotas.

EDIT: not going to put them on here because of Roosevelt and Great Plains.

Montana...

Is not too bad! Like a few zoos and zooMontana but that’s all. I’m looking at zooMontana.

EDIT: zooMontana is decent looking.

Glad to have you on the site @Girafarig, and I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I'm not sure I understand what exactly you're trying to accomplish here?

States that don't have many zoos are states with low population densities and few or no major cities. The vast majority of major zoos in the country are located in urban areas; therefore the bottom of the list quantity-wise are going to be small rural states like Wyoming, West Virginia, Mississippi, and northern New England.

If you're trying to determine which state has the worst quality zoos, I don't see how you're going to determine that. Every zoo is different and quality can vary wildly within the same state... and that's assuming that you can intuitively know good zoos from bad zoos based on how they look from photos, which is very difficult and at best oversimplifies things.

The "best states" will mainly be states with a high number of large or mid-sized urban areas. California, Texas, Florida, Ohio, New York, etc. Again this is only based on number of large zoos - quality varies widely within each state.

I’m just trying to compile this list for fun plus out of the states with fewer populations which one has the least or worst zoos. Let’s say we have a state with 1 zoo (or so called “zoo”). Then the purpose of this is to gather a state with also 1 zoo and see which is better. Now to the point, every zoo is different and I agree with that. In fact I think it might be impossible to rank the “worst” zoo. But people can figure out what a bad zoo, an average zoo, and a good zoo are and if a state has a better “bad” zoo ratio than another, then it’s worse. I also come from the amusement park community who like ranking roller coasters and amusement parks. (which a amusement park YouTuber did the same exact concept as me except with roller coasters.) I don’t like arguing and I won’t post anymore counters but it seems like people are enjoying this thread so I’m going to keep posting. Plus if we were to do a best state thread then I would see which state has the best “good” zoo ratio than others.

By the way if more people think of the thread like this, I will voluntarily stop commenting on this thread. I don’t mean hate to anyone and I respect everyone’s opinions on this website.

-Girafarig (and the cheesy line and name send- off)

EDIT: The list is kind of predictable of what will be on there but the placements are sometimes not predictable. (Wyoming was predictable as the turbo twist villain)
