I was just wondering what are zoochatters favorite animal group (mammals, reptile, etc.)????

EDIT: I voted for mammals (mammalia)

I too went for mammals, small carnivores, rodents, insectivores and the more unusual primates are among my favourites. And of course there is the echidnas, you can't go wrong with an echidna... :D

For me mammals come first. Birds come second. Amhibians come third. Reptiles come fourth. Fish come fifth. And invertebrates come sixth

My specific order is: 1st-mammals 2nd-reptiles 3rd-birds 4th-amphibians 5th- fish 6th-plantae 7th-fungi

My favourite are birds, I just love anything with feathers! I guess they dont always make the best zoo exhibits, but they make great research subjects!

I've just voted for birds. Birds and mammals are my interest, everything else in a zoo usually just gets a glance from me. In my younger days mammals would have been ahead of birds in my pecking (pardon the pun) order.

I voted for amphibs as i have kept them since I was a child one species or another, but apart from fungi (except i love mushrooms) I could have voted for anything, I love mammals and birds I keep insects too and work with plants so it was a close run choice for me.

I go for the birds because I´ve the most experience with them but actually I´m intrested in everything that breaths and moves.
Taken carefor about 1700 different birds-species, around 150 mammals-species, several hunderds of reptiles and amphibians, less then 10 fish-species and around 100 species of intevebrates ( mainly insects ).

Mammals, especially elephants and ungulates. As far as bird go my favorite are galliformes.

For many ZooChatters, this poll is too vague. Might be more realistic to do a separate poll just for mammals, divided into poll categories like Carnivore, Pachyderm, Deer and Antelope, Rodent, etc. Then do a separate poll for birds, divided into Hornbills, Raptors, Ducks and Geese, etc.

Just at thought...

(For the record, I did not vote because cats were not listed separately).

I voted for mammals, especially those I haven't seen before. As far as ABCs go, I would prefer to see an unusual bird, reptile, amphibian, fish or invertebrate, rather than a mammal I have seen several times before. When I visited Rotterdam for the first time, some of the most interesting animals were in the Riviera Hall, such as cock-of-the-rock, birds of paradise, picathartes, umbrella bird and chambered nautilus. I enjoyed the way that Prague Zoo had signposts towards the new gharial enclosure, but I also appreciated one of the classic ABC animals there - a male Rothschild's giraffe with black markings on a white background - the most unusual giraffe I've ever seen.

Mammals are by far my favorite group of animals, these are my favorite groups of Mammals in order

1. Even toed ungulates (Artiodactyla)
2. Odd toed ungulates (Perrisodactyla)
3. Elephants (Proboscidea)
4. Marine Mammals (Sierena, Pinnepeda, and Ceteaca)
5. Bears (Ursidae)
6. Rodents
7. Marsupials
8. eight and beyond is honestly hard to choose

3) Reptiles
4) Fishes
5) Invertebrates

I see that nobody has yet voted for plants or fungi as their favourite animal group....

Mammals are my favorite group of animals, with elephants being my all-time favorites, and ungulates (rhinos and takins specifically) following.

Birds come in a close second, with hornbills, Birds-of-Paradise, Birds of Prey, Gruiformes and Ciconiiformes being my favorite kinds.

I'd say reptiles and fish are just about tied; boas and crocodilians are my favorite reptiles, while I find fish in general to be extremely fascinating.

Amphibians and invertebrates are tied for "last" (however, there really is no last place when I love all animals). I don't really know much about amphibians, so I guess frogs (vague, I know) are my favorites. With insects, I've always loved caterpillars in particular for some reason, but recently I've "fallen in love" with the large number of tremendous invertebrates that can be found in the world's oceans.

And since when were plants and fungi animals? :)

EDIT: I actually honestly don't know whether I like mammals more than birds (as a whole). With mammals, I don't really find rodents, lagomorphs, bats, etc. as interesting as ungulates, canines, felines, whereas with birds I really enjoy seeing any type. Of course, should a rabbit or some insectivorian show up in my backyard, I would watch it for hours until it left, but you get my gist.
