I love them all, but mammals and birds are a tie for me 
What is your favorite group of animals????

Almost whatever I'm looking at, at the time. However, Pheasants, Waterfowl, most other birds, & gorillas are all pretty high in my affections.
I love to see Swifts return in the spring, & hear them screaming high in the evening sky. Nightjars are magical birds too.

Mammals are first up for me, with Ungulates, Carnivores, Pachyderms, and Rodents being my favorite.
Second place is a tie between Birds and Reptiles, perhaps partly from my fascination with dinosaurs, but that's a different topic. I don't prefer any family from these two groups.
And third goes to another tie, between Amphibians, Fish, and Invertabrates. I couldn't really decide.

I always enjoy seeing all of them, but for me the ranking would be:
1. Invertebrates
2. Reptiles
3. Amphibians
(Tbh reptiles and amphibians are tied, they are very similar in their appeal and characteristics, but reptiles get the edge with some awesome lizards, as well as turtles)
4. Mammals (pretty much tied with these others, small mammals would be 1st, though)
5. Fish
(I still am a huge fan of fish, and keep them myself. Everything here and above I am very interested in and pay close attention to in zoos, and are practically tied)
6. Birds
(Couldn't this technically be grouped with reptiles.... Hold on don't want to start a fight here, for the purposes of this discussion separating them is better, and with the exception of some groups, birds are the least interesting animals to me.)
7. Fungi (fungi are cool)
8. Plants (plants get the short end of the stick for being 'boring')

The Only one who voted for Insects and Other Inverts.
Listen, I know that some people don't really care for these animals, and thats okay, but they are pretty Damn astounding and fascinating creatures.
Inverts really show the Biodiversity that Mother nature has supplied the Planet with, and even though some may be parasitic or just be little black beetles in the dirt, they still are #1 for me.
I also Agree with @Arizona Docent on this one, its way to vague.
Inverts make up about 95% of all living creatures, and their just given a small portion of the poll.
But than again, I really do adore other parts of the Major animal groups.
Like Docent, I adore Cats, (Mainly small but big cats are awesome too)
And I really enjoy Lagomorphs and Viverrids.
For Birds, Owls of the Genus Otus are quite interesting, and Birds like tanagers, Sunbirds, and Barbets also delight me quite a bit.
For Reptiles, Crocodilians are My In-depth knowledge fare, But anything in the Genus anolis and Blind snakes are Amazing too.
I virtually love all Amphibians, But Especially Caecilians.
I also like fish almost as much as Inverts, but My favorites have to be Snipefish, Oarfish, Needlefish, Wrasses, Catfish, Sharks, Rays, Etc.
But Inverts are the Crown jewels. The Title, "Insects and Other inverts", is quite misleading for me personally, as My top three Favorite Animal Sub-groups in total are,
Tainadacea, Tainads.
Bryozoa, Bryozoans.
And Nudibranchia, Nudibranchs or Sea slugs.
So My number one interests are all Marine inverts, Not terrestrial inverts, My favorite land inverts are Velvet worms, But they don't compare to the Three above.
Will I be the Lone #1 Invertebrate voter?

I voted for birds. I’ve always found them fascinating. Many of them often get overlooked in favor of large, charismatic mammals, but they are wonderfully diverse with lots of beautiful and strange species. Plus the fact that they’re the last living dinosaurs doesn’t hurt.
If you were to ask me my favorite group of birds though, that would be a difficult choice.

Although I put my efforts into birding, having seen all but 28 of the families, I have voted for invertebrates. In a different life I named 2 species of Onchidiacean sea slug from Hong Kong, and keep a UK Nudibranch list; I added one, Doto eirana to the Welsh list. When I eventually get to New Zealand, although I will be chasing 6 bird families I would be more delighted to see a live Onychophoran.
I went for reptiles simply because as a class I find them more interesting - all groups of reptiles are interesting aside from certain species, but they always turn out to be interesting anyways, and I didn’t go for mammals or birds for that reason, there are just some I have no interest in despite being potentially fascinating species, like shrews, moles and some rodents
That sounds awesome! Sea slugs are definitely cool animals. Oh yeah, Onychophorans are just so interesting, Ancient species too, with some remarkable adaptable abilities.

i really appreciate the enthusiasm I read, but seriously, does everything need its place on a shelf and to be ranked in a certain order?
when the biggest whale in the world dies, it often sinks and is recycled by other 'boring' living organisms, all equally useful and useless.
Its all about the reproduction of life, passing on the DNA, life cycles and the odd mutation throwing in a curve ball.

I voted for mammals. I find them really interesting, mostly because they are not as well known as birds. I can't decide for a specific group of mammals, because most of them interest me in some way or another. For example, I love small mammals (rodents, bats and shrews), because there are some many of them, yet very little is known. But I also love ABC mammals, like ungulates and carnivorans: they are just amazing and I have just seen a bunch of them in zoos. Also, I'm fascinated about primates, mostly because of their complicated taxonomy, and a desire of finding their true diversity is what makes me love them.

Its a good thing that someone else chose inverts, they are truly amazing.
Mammals are great and all but the colors and variations of fish are unbeatable. I specifically like carpet shark species and moray eel species.
Very true, You really can't beat all the Color patterns of our fish friends.
Agreed, the Wilson's bird of paradise is quite visually stunning in its mating behavior and the Male's Coloration.I voted for birds. But mammals is a close tie for me. I picked birds because they are so cool I guess. Like Bird-Of-Paradise (the birds of course) like the Wilson’s Bird-Of-Paradise - so pretty!
