What is your favorite species?

Northern Rufous Hornbills are certainly my favourite animal. Indeed, my username is the word often used for the species in their native range of the Philippines. :)

If I had to pick just one (which is damn near impossible for most things) I’d have to go with the Malayan tapir, Tapirus indicus, though there are a slew of potential follow-ups and second places, in fact too many to count.

Honestly, I really like pandas, they're just so fun to watch and I've followed the Smithsonian ever since Xiao Qi Ji was born. Though I also really like giraffes and penguins.

Hyena, nile crocodile, any vulture, any anteater, african wild dog/hunting dog/painted dog, american alligator…its hard to pick!

I don't think I could pick just one!! My favourite groups would have to be Labridae (wrasses and parrotfishes), Tetraodontiformes (pufferfishes, triggerfishes and allies), Acanthuriformes (surgeonfishes, butterflyfishes, snappers and allies), Charadriiformes (shorebirds, gulls and allies) and Passeriformes (passerine birds)

I'm having a bit of a love in with the camelids at the minute, with wild bactrians taking the top spot

I'm a big fan of small mammals in general - red panda, raccoon dog/tanuki, all foxes, all viverrids, all tree kangaroos but particularly Matschie's, all procyonids. When asked for a singular species I usually say red panda, but that only tells part of the story.

You need to understand that different people have different opinions on different things. This is my own personal opinion so you should respect that.

The duel comment was clearly a joke - @Aardwolf wasn’t literally challenging you to pistols at dawn.

BTW Hippos aren’t football teams - you don’t need to disparage one because it isn’t the team (species of hippo) you support. :p

My Top 5 ;)
1. Little Spotted Kiwi
2. Rowi/ Okarito Kiwi
3. Great Spotted Kiwi
4. North Island Brown Kiwi
5. Tokoeka/ Southern Brown Kiwi

If you couldn’t tell I love Kiwi! All joking (not really) aside I also love Little Blue Penguins, Blackbuck, Gerenuk, Okapi, Red Panda, and Sand Cat!

Easily Victoria Crowned Pigeons, Luzon's Bleeding Heart Doves, and Nicobar Pigeons. I have had the opportunity to work with 3/3 of the species on the list and currently with the Luzon's and Nicobar birds. I have a tendency to like Columbiformes
