What is your favorite zoo that DOESN'T have your favorite animal?

My favorite animal is the Alligator Snapping Turtle. Currently, the Georgia Aquarium is my highest ranking facility to not feature this species. Within my top 10, this also extends to the National Aquarium in Baltimore (although my last visit was over 15 years ago), Greensboro Science Center (as of 2023), and Sylvan Heights Bird Park.

My favorite animal is elephants (African and Asian), and my favorite zoos without them'd have to be Philadelphia Zoo and Prospect Park Zoo.

My favorite animal is the Nile Lechwe, two of my favorite zoo without this specie is Beauval, many species and some nice exhibits. They don't have many antelope species, but they have the cute mouse deer, not an antelope, but i love this little guy). And they have some rare species in european zoo like Tasmanian devil.

As a certified Malayan tapir enjoyer , it basically boils down to my favourite zoo (that I’ve been to) that’s not Chester or PL, which then becomes very hard to pin down as two of my favourites (West Midlands Safari Park and Dudley Zoo) are linked quite heavily with nostalgia, good memories and a lot of visits. They’re both really great places, even though I know there are objectively better zoos (without T. indicus) that I’ve been to. I also absolutely love Marwell despite having only been once.

The Georgia Aquarium held snapping turtles when I visited in 2019. I only recall one individual so it has probably passed on.

my favorite animal is the Komodo Dragon, so my top facillties I've been to that don't have them are Georgia Aquarium, Dallas Zoo and DWA(of course Georgia kind of gets a pass as you wouldn't expect to see Komodos in an aquarium)

My favorite animals in general are frogs, and I think those have been at just about any zoo I’ve ever been to.

So I’ll go with my favorite “classic” zoo animal, which would be hippos. My favorite zoo I’ve been to that doesn’t have them is the Bronx Zoo, I’ve always said that was basically the one thing they’re missing.

Capybaras are my favourite specific animal, and the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis in Milnthorpe is my favourite zoo that doesn't have them. In a more general sense I love seeing felines, and Exotic Zoo in Telford is my favourite zoo that doesn't have any type of feline.

African Elephants are my favourite animals, their majesty and intelligence is incredible to witness and (from what I have seen) elephants are a favourite among the Z.C Community. Due to Chester zoo holding Asian Elephants, Chester zoo would be both my favourite zoo generally and not including my favourite animal :p.

My favourite animal is the hornbill (of any species, but Buceros hydrocorax, the Northern Rufous Hornbill, is my favourite, and the inspiration for my username, with 'kalaw' being the name used for them in their native range of the Philippines). Zurich is my favourite zoo regardless, and they don't have hornbills of any species, so an easy choice for this! That said, the zoo would, like any other, be improved by the addition of hornbills!

My current favorite animal is the Komodo Dragon (evident from my profile pic). My only local zoo that has them is Roger Williams Park Zoo with the rest in New England lacking it. My favorite zoos that I've been too that lack this species include Brookfield Zoo, and Oakland Zoo

My local zoo is bound to have no more elephants by the time their elderly (Asian) cow passes away. My favourite animal, on the other hand, is Loxodonta africana, although I really like Elephantidae in general. São Paulo is on the same boat.

Both Parque das Aves and Ecoparque Foz are sensational zoos with no elephants whatsoever.

Luckily, they’re increasing in size like at Franklin park zoo

Definitely a trend I'd love to see continue! They're such a neat species- Colorful, highly social, very active, and endangered. Heavily misunderstood also, which actively contributes to status as an endangered species.

There's several great orgs doing excellent work in their native Africa though, providing ample opportunity for zoos to support in-situ projects!

Really, it's a wonder why more zoos haven't jumped onboard the Painted Wolf train by now. It's nice to see that beginning to change, at least.

This is a fun one - my favorite animal is the great white shark, so...all of them? Lol. But if we wanna get a little more realistic, I really love sawfish, and truly all species of them at that. Georgia Aquarium (my favorite zoo or aquarium institution I've ever been to) keeps green sawfish (Pristis zijsron), so they are eliminated. I would say that the crown would then move to either the San Diego Zoo (no elasmobranch species at all anymore) or Shedd Aquarium (sent their green sawfish Ginsu to, ironically, Georgia!).
