What is your job?

I work in museums and archives as a cataloguing and database specialist. The nature of the sector means virtually all jobs are project-based, so I'm usually only at a place for a year or two before moving to another project. I have quite a list of museums and archives under my belt!

More or less the job I always hoped to get :P

But as it happens, I work in a data entry position within the NHS Business Services Authority.

I'm a software tester for 1.5 years now. I'm testing mostly interfaces that are related to exchanging public transport data between different software systems, both for busses and for trains and even ships sometimes.

Paralegal for lawyers specializing in environmental law while going to school to study ethology and hopefully find ways to use what I learn from that to increase the efficiency of enrichment for animals in zoological institutions, find better ways for animals to express their natural instincts within a zoo setting, find ways to make zoological exhibits better suited for their inhabitants and, in the end, find better ways to prepare species for possible reintroduction.

Freelance reporter. I've been freelance ever since the company I worked for closed due to COVID and I've been looking for full-time employment ever since, but it's been challenging.

Part time kitchen porter. Otherwise retired and devoted to my personal bird collection. I’ve been gardener, teacher, administrator, social worker and zookeeper over the years:)

TLD, We have both been on ZooChat for over a decade, I never thought or would have thought someone with your education or professionalism to be fair to anyone else would do data entry....

Each to their own as it is :)

Well, after nearly a decade of unemployment I couldn't exactly be picky :P but it allows me to get an important task done whilst allowing me the free time and money to pursue my actual interests! So I cannot complain.

But as noted, I always hoped/wanted to work in the museum and archival sector... just didn't work out that way.

I am having my last two classes I need online in order to get my AA. I have no plans for the future because I do not know how I want to proceed or where I want to live. I only have dreams. But what makes a dream a dream is that dreams cannot be real.
