I also work at the Los Angeles Zoo as a Volunteer Animal Keeper, the Animals I work with include Grevys zebras, Pronghorns, Nubian ibex, Black duiker, Red flanked duiker, Southern pudu, Ocelots, Prarie dogs and Childrens Zoo animals, I am not technically a keeper, basically what I do is I work along side paid keepers helping them prepare food, give medication, open and close doors and gates etc.
At the Los Angeles Zoo I have been there a couple months, but at the Santa Ana Zoo I have been there 5 years, since i was 16
I really enjoy these jobs, I have had other jobs that I didnt enjoy too much, those jobs were
ages 18 through 19, I worked at an Exotic Pet Vet Clinic, I loved the job and my co-workers, but I decided it was best I continue to Work at Zoos and Wildlife Parks instead
age 17, I worked as an aid and mentor for middle school and high school students with autism and down syndrome, I honestly didnt like It much because It had absolutely nothing to do with zoos or animals, although there was a kid who had a special interest in zoos and animals, I enjoyed mentoring him but it just honestly wasnt the same as working at a zoo with animals
age 17, I worked at my mom's office doing reasearch and copying papers etc. sorry to say but that wasnt for me
when I was 18 or 19 I applyed for education possitions at the San Diego Zoo and at the Living Desert, but those havent followed through for some reason
when I was 15 and in 9th grade, I thought about working at my local exotic pet store, but that never followed through either
