What species would you like to own, but can't for whatever reason?

I can have snakes or invertebrates since my mom is to scared of them, parrots/parakeets because they become to emotionally attached to you (and my dog wouldn’t get along with it) and a cat since my dad doesn’t like cats.

I won't be acquiring any snakes while I'm living with my parents either. My mother is terrified of them as well.
I would really like to own a pair of East African crowned cranes but alas I cannot own them due to lack of space.
Some day I'd like a squirrel of some species, probably Hudson's or one of the variegateds out here on the market. A nice duck pond with some koi is on the wishlist as well and if I ever get the space for a nice aviary a turaco sp. would be a dream bird to care for. I don't really dream of keeping a entire menagerie as time is limited when you also need to work on a daily basis and other stuff.
Be careful! I've heard that squirrels can be a pain to work with.
As have I, but I'd really like to challenge it. However if it doesn't work out it's not a big loss. I'd preferably get these animals as last of the ones I mentioned on my wishlist.

An axolotl would be my dream pet to own.
However, Brazil is a very hot country and not good temperature wise for this species so sadly it will have to remain a pipe dream.

You're not missing much. They can be pains. People buy fans to place on the tanks to keep the temperature down.

Oh , I worked with their conservation for a while and I know well how tough it can be keeping the temperature down.
Here in Brazil the only way would be to buy a water chiller and those can be incredibly expensive so it will have to remain a dream.
Mind you, Mexico isn't exactly frigid!
I never struggled with the temperature. Keeping the parameters steady was my biggest issue. (I had three in the same tank.) I never planned on keeping all three, though. Once I rehomed the two females the parameters were much easier to manage.

True, and it was challenging enough to keep the temperatures down over there.
That said temperature wise it can get pretty cool in Mexico city because of the higher altitude of the valley of Mexico and it being a temperate country.
In Brazil it would just be totally impossible to maintain a constant cool temperature in an aquarium that is necessary for the species without a lot of very expensive aquaria gear.
