What type of cameras do you use to take your photos, or do you use a smartphone? Hear is what I use.

I use my Canon EOS Rebel T7 for animal photos and my iPhone 11 Pro for exhibit photos.

Currently aCanon Powershot SX530 HS and iPhone 8, but hope to get the iPhone 13 Pro Max soon for good quality 4K 60fps filming. My iPhone 8 is terrible at zooming in.

Hi just switch from a Nikon d7100 to using mirrorless Sony a7c with a sigma 150-600 lens and a samyang 85mm f1.4 for nocturnal houses.

Baptism of fire taking it to Germany almost untested but I was exceptionally happy.

My camera is an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III, with M.Zuiko Digital ED 14‑150mm F4-5.6 II and M.Zuiko Digital ED 75‑300mm F4.8‑6.7 II lenses.

How is the lens? I was thinking a while ago about buying that, but kept reading that Tamron can be a bit soft on Nikons; I did have a 70-300 a few years ago which I thought was fine.
Hi, The lens is fine, get some good results, (have also used the Kenko N-AF 1.4X DGX Teleplus HD), It does Auto Focus, and does hunt, persevere with it and you`ll find the sweet spot,, helps with wired cages. Some people can get a bad copy and get bad results, ask if you can hire the lens to try out before you buy it.

Forum newbie here but zoo photography is one of my favourite things - main photography is in the horse sport of eventing (dressage, show jumping and cross country all run on the same horse on the same or over multiple days depending on competition level). I try to visit a zoo every week even in the event season though.

Sony user and have the A7iii with the 100-400GM and 200-600 G lenses as my main glass and also run the A6400 crop body. I’m about to take the plunge to an A9 series for the new event season in March. But I’m very happy with the other bodies and the AF / tracking performance so far. Went Sony as I started my mirrorless journey with a crop body A6000 and had got into the lenses; always a bit left field from all the canon and Nikon users!

Canon EOS 80D, usually (in zoos) with Tamron 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD or Canon 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM for animals, and Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-56 IS STM.

Nikon D7200 with a Tamron 150-600 lense, if necessary (in some houses) I change to my 18-200 lense (Tamron as well).

I use a Nikon D5300. I usually use my 600 mm Tamron zoom lens with my monopod for stability, but I do occasionally switch to different lenses if a situation calls for it. If its a really big animal or if its up pretty close, I'll often use my smaller telephoto (70mm-300mm). If its in low light and the subject is close to me, I normally use my 50 mm prime lens. It can go to a 1.8 aperture, so its useful for indoor exhibits like reptile rooms. Every once in a while if I want to do a wide shot I'll use my standard lens, which is an 18-55 mm zoom lens.
