What will 2012 bring?

Another year almost gone and time to look into the crystal ball for the year ahead.
What can we expect to see in 2012 popping up in UK collections, i ask because all i can think of is surely the long overdue musk oxen at HWP.
So, what is happening in your neck of the woods?

Blackpool hopefully will have a female tiger.

Woburn will have a young elephant calf.

Another thing, Highland may have a young female Polar bear.

Paignton a new tigeress.

A few more things I've just thought of-

A new female Indian rhino for Chester.
A orangutan or gorilla for Blackpool.
Amur leopard cubs at Marwell, Colchester and Wildlife hertiage foundation.
Okapi calves for Chester and Marwell.
Snow leopard cubs for Banham and Wildlife hertiage foundation.
Sumatran tiger cubs for West Midlands safari Park.

That's what I'm hoping for

I thought it was a bit of both.

We will get to see the leopards at Yorkshire Wildlife Park and maybe they will get a female (and move 1 or 2males on)

Get the tigers together, or by some means have a breeding pair, at YWP.

In dreamland - great apes, or any apes, at YWP.

An orangutan baby at Monkey World.

Progress with making bigger chimp groups at Twycross, and better accommodation.

Giant otter young at Chester???

A new female Amur Leopard for Twycross, they have held 2 males (father and son) for so long now.

Paignton - Orang baby, cheetah cubs, Cassowary eggs, Amphibian Ark success and arrival of binturong.

Living Coasts - female Bank Cormorants and female Kittewakes, more Pigeon Guillemots and maybe Little Auk or Razorbill?
Also hope otters will be active during day?

Twycross - Chimp housing and open-top monkey enclosures/creation of islands?

Marwell - continued Okapi success.

Not that I'm aware of, but I believe the females have been 'sorted', so to speak.

Even the staff at HWP are hacked off by the Musk Ox situation. Hopefully the blue tongue situation and Dutch rules will all be sorted and they'll arrive.

Also at HWP a mate for Walker and someone to win the lottery to allow the Amur Leopard enclosures to be built and the cats to be moved up.


At Edinburgh I daresay they are hoping that 2012 will bring Panda cubs. Also hopefully a mate for Mowgli.

Interesting, I've been thinking about this. I wonder if actually they will be hoping that cubs dont come in 2012 and instead come in a couple of years time, just when the initial interest period has died down, that way you get two 'hits' with the public.

Longleat receive gorllila's,hopefully bears and penguins(not in the same travel crate!),the giraffe feeding station opens and the cheetah's come out of quarentine.

London zoo's lion cubs will be realesed outised(if they haven't already) and hopefully Mjuki(or any other female) the gorilla will give birth.

The male Kesho has been diagnosed with Klinefelter's Syndrome and so is effectively infertile. There will probably be no more breeding until he is replaced.

Or maybe it could be achieved with a bit of spare cash (perhaps generated by the Giant Pandas) and a favour from the military as I know they've assisted in building various enclosures, I assume at no cost, in the past.

I would certainly hope the former - the zoo intended to bring in a non-breeding group to start off with.

Cheetahs should be out of quarantine in March.
