What zoos/parks do you want to visit the most?

Out of zoos I haven't been to, I'd rank it like this...

1. Woodland Park
2. DAK
3. North Carolina
4. Oklahoma City
5. St. Louis
6. Minnesota

Of course there are plenty of others, but those top the list for me. North Carolina is likely the only one I'll visit anytime soon though.

I'm visiting zoos I've been wanting to visit for the past several years. I had an elderly father in frail health who passed away earlier this year.

So, this year, I visited zoos in Indianapolis, St. Louis, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. I postponed my fall visit to the National Zoo to spring.

Next year, it's San Diego, National Zoo, Minneapolis, Henry Doorly, Memphis and Detroit. If I can squeeze in return trips to the zoos I visited this year, I will. I liked them that much.

In 2011, so far, it's going to be Bronx, Woodland and Cleveland (Elephant Crossing!)

I wish I could just create my own personal zoo from my favorite exhibits at the zoos I've visited. Oh, wait, I think that's another thread!

To name a few; San Diego, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Mountain View Conservation Center, Woodland Park Zoo, Bronx Zoo, Georgia Aquarium, Monteray Bay Aquarium.

First off, sorry about your father.

What are you favorite zoos?

I ask because based on where you've been, I have a feeling that you might not be as impressed with the zoos you mentioned other than St. Louis after you've visited SD, Bronx, and Henry Doorly.

I'd also recommend a visit to the Maryland Zoo when you go to the National Zoo.

Thanks. I mentioned Dad for 2 reasons: he's the reason I'm a zoo geek. He took us to see Mike the Polar Bear at Lincoln Park Zoo when I was 4 or 5 and I've been going to zoos ever since. And, secondly, he always encouraged us to travel.

It's hard to pick a favorite zoo of the ones I visited because I loved them all and they each have individual exhibits that are worth a return visit.

San Diego and the Bronx. Yes, I know. The top 2 zoos in the U.S.

Thanks for the Maryland Zoo rec!

Well what zoos have you been to other than the one's you mentioned?

I'd put Omaha up there with SD and the Bronx.

No problem, it's a better zoo than it's given credit for imo, and better than Pittsburgh imo, although it doesn't have an aquarium.

I've also been to the Milwaukee County Zoo, Oregon Zoo, San Francisco Zoo, London Zoo and Ueno Park Zoo (Tokyo). The last 2 were a long time ago. And, of course, Brookfield Zoo, which last I heard, is going to be an elephant breeding facility like Pittsburgh.

Miami Metrozoo is a big one for me. I should see it this summer. Busch Gardens is another, and I should see it over the holidays. I also need to get to the Texas zoos one of these days.

This is a great question. For me without doubt, the answer is Woodland Park Zoo. Fingers crossed for a trip to the Pacific Northwest next summer...

In 2011, Cleveland Zoo will be a lot more impressive when we open up our amazing Elephant habitat. It will easily be one of the best African Elephant exhibits in America!

Blackduiker

I'd probably put these in the top 10 I'd like to see:

New York Bronx
Minnesota
Singapore
Omaha
Toronto
Miami Metro
Detroit
Washington National
Columbus
Cincinnati

Bronx, San Diego Zoo and WAP, Detriot, and Buffalo!

for me it would have to be the Bronx, Woodland Park Zoo, and Omaha, Cincy, Columbus, and many more...
