Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden What's Gnu at the Cincinnati Zoo - 2014

That's very good new about the guenons!... Much better news than I expected. I had honestly pretty much assumed that they had either all passed or one had passed and the other was just held off exhibit. So, yes, fingers crossed for some offspring!

About the mixed hoofstock yard signage, yes, I noticed that the placement was rather... Scattered. It doesn't make a lot of sense, and t'll be interesting to see how it works with the public.

Oh, and the Indian rhinoceroses are off-exhibit along with the okapis and bongos because the construction being done on the okapi and bongo yards is blocking the access to the Indian rhinoceros yards.

Do you think they're going to add for fencing for privacy?.... like they have three times already.

Kudu21, do you mind if I ask how you got access to all of the signage when 3 of them are cut off from the public?

Sorry to keep posting on different responses but I discovered more good news. The Congo Peafowl are back on and have been moved to the indoor Aviary in Jungle Trails.

In Wings of the World in the South America exhibit there are two new species. The And an Cock of the Rock, and a Hawk-headed Parrot. Yellow billed Hornbills have been put outside in the owl exhibit. Kudu21 and I predicted two years ago that the cock of the rock would be placed in that exhibit one day. They were once temporarily in World of the Insect, but they kept eating the butterflies.

The zoo has another new species in WotW Australasia exhibit: the Blue-faced Honeyeater.

You mean the aviary where the Black-Casqued Hornbills are?

What outdoor owl enclosure? I don't remember one. What was previously in it?

Yes, were*

It is iterally two feet away from the Wings of the World entrance under a canopy. And it held a Barred Owl, during the summer though that place him in Wolf Woods.

What happened to them?

Oh I know what you're talking about. That held a kookaburra when I visited.

No idea, I'll ask Matt, the main Jungle Trails keeper tomorrow if I can. They only on display for unfortunately 2-3 months after being off for 3 years.

Sorry for the posting again, but here's another update. The zoo replaced the African Fat-tailed Gecko in the Reptile House with Strawberry, Dyeing, Blue, and Bumblebee Dart Frogs.

If that's the same terrarium the gecko was in when I visited, that's very small for all those species.

How the heck do you remember that? :) And it's better than having the Gecko in there when all 4 species (one each) adds up to the same size.

I remember seeing the species and I remember seeing photos of the terrarium on here. I suppose one of each is not bad, though I personally would've only put two species in there then.

Same, surprisingly I didn't even see any. Sorry for snapping on you lately, after getting this job it has made me love the zoo more. Also it's kind of policy to never say anything negative about the zoo on and off zoo grounds.

haha it's good. I never took any of that as snapping at me. That's an odd rule:p

More like me being "over defensive". I find the rule to be quite fair despite our freedom of speech. This rule is not made a big deal in any way and it is very miniscule compared to other rules. I should specify that we can say negative things about the zoo as long as the zoo can't find the comment.

After seeing our new species, can someone please tell me how rare a Hawk-headed Parrot is?

This isn't any secret news but they must be doing something big with Rhino Reserve for awhile because I walked past the Hoofstock holding in Africa.... and saw Kiloro, our male okapi.
