Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden What's Gnu at the Cincinnati Zoo - 2016

I finally made it back down to the zoo this past weekend for a lovely fall day visit... And I come baring updates!

Wings of The World:
-The chestnut-breasted malkoha that is displayed in Jungle Trails during the summer is on display in the left-hand side cage in the lobby, and the Guam rail is in the right-hand side cage in preparation for his shipment to another zoo.

-Australasia is closed off for introductions.

-The pair of African pygmy falcons is now on display in the third micro-habitat (former white-throated ground dove).

-Two southern rockhopper penguins and one king penguin are in quarantine and will be added to the Sub-Antarctic Coasts exhibit soon.

-It is little blue penguin breeding season, and one egg has already been recovered, while several others are still with their parents.

-Lastly, unfortunately, the male capuchinbird ended up passing away.

Africa:
-The African painted dog viewing windows are blocked off with a sign that the new mother needs her privacy because 12 pups were born on the 16th!

I'd like to add that the path viewing for the crane and Zebra exhibits in Rhino reserve have been completely fenced off.

Edit: Both the lights for the Aardwolf and Clouded Leopard exhibit were on and for the first time ever, I finally got excellent shots of the rare species that's been at the zoo for 4 years now.

Interesting.. This is a very recent change because this was not the case during my visit on Saturday... I just checked the zoo's website, and it says that the zebras will be off-exhibit until the spring... So perhaps they are finally updating their previous yard so that it is actually functional for zebras? The former Indian rhino yard has been a very poor temporary measure, but at least it has been better for their hooves! This could, possibly be a double-fold renovation, providing the zebras with a larger, more functional yard and opening the yard they are in now back up for rhinos, which would allow Seyia (and eventually her calf) and Faru to all be outside at the same time...

There is nothing inherently wrong with what the USDA Spokesperson said since the fence failed to prevent visitor access to the Gorilla World exhibit. Using the logic that a fence is 100% effective until it is breached is the problem of the reports and how the media portrays the incident.
 
Anana the zoo's new Polar Bear, went on exhibit for the first time today according to the zoo's snapchat.
 
Does anyone know if the zoo is planning on getting a new capuchinbird for their female?
