Zoo Duisburg What's new at Duisburg

I visited the zoo at the end of November and noticed lots of work being carried out by the sealion/ cafe snacks area, there was a big sign saying what was being done, but as my German isn't good I don't know what it is!
I'm thinking from my bad translation it's something for horses / donkeys but can anyone local to the zoo advise me? Also is there more work being done close to the elephants as there was a sign there too?
 
Did you happen to take a picture of the sign?
 
I believe they are buidling a new petting zoo close to the sealions, and an enclosure for spectacled bears close to the elephant/aquarium area.
 
Thanks Johnny, that would make sense as the current petting area was empty on my visit. The new area looks to be much bigger in area.
With the bears, are the brown bears gone from the old bear pit as I didn't see any in their.

The last of the Kodiak Bears died earlier this year I believe!

This is the sign which was up, at easter time, detailing the new spectacled bear enclosure. Many of Duisburg's recent developments have been very good indeed, and it has gone from being, as recently as the mid 90s, a really rather shabby zoo, to being one of the best on Germany. Hopefully this will continue that trend.
