At Shedd Aquarium in Chicago I once heard some uneducated idiot say, “throw that into a pot and you got yourself one hell of a feast” when looking at the Japanese spider crabs. People who only look at animals as resources to be exploited anger me so much.

It’s quite common in Japanese aquariums to hear “ooh that looks delicious”.
Many of those species on display are food fish and crustaceans. It's really nice being able to see tuna, cod, sea bream, salmon, mackerel, and herring alive and swimming around.

I heard a guy say “Honey look at the hippo”, he was pointing to a rhino
No reason to not be able to appreciate it both as a living animal and as a nice meal. There are several aquaria in Europe with education regarding fish we eat.

At the Greensboro Science Center I have heard a Fishing Cat be called both a bobcat and a swimmy cat.
A Lion Fish called a tiger fish
A Minuture Horse a donkey
People saying that the snakes aren't real because they don't blink
Aldabra Tortoises called turtles
Gibbons monkeys
And at the NC Zoo I have heard people call the American Bison buffalo
People saying the alligators aren't real
The lions be called tigers
That the Grizzly Bear and Bobcat looked lonely because there was only one in the exhibit
And that the enclosures were way to small

That's a perfect name for them, though.
I thought buffalo was a common term when referring to bison, I hear them get called ‘American buffalo’ very often
I've often heard from NC Zoo employees that they get questions from guests about when they put the wild snakes living on zoo grounds up at night.
Well gibbons are very technicly monkeys, like all apes.
And many zoos have just way to smal enclosers for many diffrent species.

This is rather small, but someone called an Asian elephant an African elephant when there was clearly a sign that said “Asian Elephant”
The fact one woman called a Peccary “Pumba”.
Yes it is a suid, but Pumba is a WARTHOG and NOT a peccary.
