So I ditched the plan plan to try to see if I could visit the Species Survival Center to see their Milky Storks and was wondering which are the best times during the day to get the best footage for the following species. I know its the beginning of fall and I'm not at all familiar with NOLA's weather patterns, but if anyone can remember when and which species are active to get good video I would really appreciate it! @geomorph 's comprehensive list of all species at the zoo has been really helpful in choosing which ones I want to focus on. I'm planning on spending a full day at the zoo and depending on what I'm able to get, may spend part of another day there. The species I'm most looking forward to getting good activity footage of are:
1) Maguari Storks
2) Barasinghas
3) Great White Pelicans
4) Marabou Storks
5) Asian Elephants
6) Mandrills
6) Whooping Cranes
By the way, does anyone know if the zoo's tropical bird house has been reopened? I couldn't find any notifications online about it and it isn't listed on the zoo's website, just has the Audubon aviary. Thank you.
