Where Are The Dingos?

Another difference I have heard about is that dingos only come onto heat once a year as opposed to domestic dogs that come onto heat twice a year.

Although they tell an interesting story about invasive species, and may be worth exhibiting for that reason, they really serve no conservation purpose..

I have to agree here, zoos have two roles to play; 1. Conservation and 2. Education and I think that a balance between the two is very hard to achieve as everyone will have different opinions on which should be the major and which should be the minor.

I would love to see dingo back on display along with a whole host of animals that have been deemed too comon for display.

I think I remember reading that Clinton Keelings , Ashover zoological gardens had great success breeding dingo?

Speaking of all of this, my recent "Almah Matah" Hampshire College has an interesting history with NGSD. Ray Coppinger, a noted researcher of dog behavior and evolution worked there and kept a group of them at the college until the early 00's. I lived a few hundred yards from their old kennels. Sorta cool. Always wondered what happended to those dogs...
