The kagu seems to be winning this one, perhaps unsuprisingly.

I do find the kagu fascinating but I'll strategically change vote for the bleeding heart dove given that I find them quite charismatic and striking and the Negros bleeding-heart dove is critically endangered.

New Caledonia is on my bucket list!

Great to hear, I hope you do get to see a wild Kagu one day, I bet it is a treat to see them in the forests, they are such a singular looking bird.

I think I may have seen one in a zoo a long time ago but believe it or not I can't actually remember where this was.

I'm going to say that it could have been Bristol zoo in a walkthrough aviary where I saw this species but I'm not sure if it was here, I can't really remember.

Really superficial but from my perspective kagu's are quite dull in colour scheme compared to bleeding heart doves (specifically the Sulu one), and I'd rather see a Sulu bleeding heart than a kagu for the first time so yeah.

Thanks for your comment and voting @the racoon has spoken !

Oh right I see, I agree that the bleeding dove is really vibrantly coloured in terms of its plumage, very strangely too.

Looks like the kagu won this one, thanks to everyone who voted and commented in this poll.

Here is a video to celebrate its victory in the poll :

and here a video of a chance encounter with a kagu in its natural habitat:
