Which kind of Zoo animals are your favourite?

What kind of Zoo animals do you prefer, why and favourite animal within section.

I voted hoofstock, but I like many things including reptiles, parrots, cranes, small carnivores and lemurs. I also like to see anything I have not seen before.

I don't like meerkats and chimpanzees.

Am the same, not sure why I don't like Chimps. Considering i like the other great apes. :confused:

I couldn't possible vote because like my taste in music, my taste in animals in very strange and I couldn't narrow to a single group.
 
My favorite animals to see are hyenas. That said, I'm a hoofstock guy more and more the older I get and the more zoos seem to get away from keeping a wide variety. I think it's a tendency a lot of hardcore zoo fans likely come to after awhile. You can see lions, gorillas, elephants, giraffes and bears at just about any medium to large park. On the other hand, You're not likely to see the same species of antelope at all parks. I get excited about seeing sable, wildebeest, kudu, duikers, eland, etc. Unless you frequent the Bronx, it's super tough to find a zoo in the States with a decent variety of Asian hoofstock.
 
Again, not fond of chimps. Too agressive and near to humanity's darker sides for me.

As for meerkats, I like them and don't mind them being in pretty much every collection, but I don't make anything big of them.
 
well i voted herps , because reptiles fascinate me in fact i am the proud owner of a king california snake which ive kept for just over 5 years, also insects and amphibeans, but i also have a great interest in birds i considered recently taking a diploma in ornithology however decided against it because of the demands of my job leave very little spare time , primates also interest me but far from being put off by their similarities to human beings i am very curious of them , generally the animals i most like are from my part of the world , south and central american fauna
 
I chose others because when I visit a zoo I don't find myself looking for one type of animal I take my time looking at all the animals and enjoying them there for it's easy ALL would have been better
 
My favorite animals to view at zoos are hoof-stock. I've lived around hoof-stock all my life and I've always had a soft spot for them. I especially love antelope. They have been my favorite animals for a long time. They are so diverse, from the tiny Royal Antelope to the Giant Eland. I absolutely love them! Out of the antelope my favorites are the Spiral Horned Antelope, Kudus, Nyalas, Sitatungas,ect. Actually sometimes, I base the zoos I plan to go to on the amount of hoof-sock species they exhibit. It's a real shame that they are being fased out of zoos.
 
Although I LOVE hoofstock like hippos, my most favorite animals to see are the small mammals like Matschie's Tree Kangaroos and Tamanduas.
 
Hoofstock mainly because my hometown zoo the how closed Catskill Game Farm hoofstock was there specialty. I also love carnivores. The Cheetah is my favorite animal.
