Which zoo has the best / most diverse suid & peccary collection ?

Do you know why the suid / peccary collection was downsized ?

I guess for the general reason for the two Berlin zoos: less species for more room for the remaining ones, less to no overlap between the collections of Zoo and Tierpark.

Both Zoo and Tierpark still have a very species rich collection, but both are not longer at the level of that during my first visit in the late 1990's / early 2000's. Bit ambivalent about it. What is the use of keeping three subspecies of tiger, four subspecies of leopard, three species of zebra, etc? On one hand, I think it is better focusing on one subspecies of tiger and give them a very good enclosure instead of three subspecies in substandard enclosures. On the other hand, by showing both Siberian and Sumatran tiger or Amur and Persian leopard or Grévy and mountain zebra you can compare related (sub)species and see how different they are from each other in size and colors.

Shame about the bearded pigs at ZSL I saw the last ones back in 2019 shortly before these were euthanized.

I think these were actually a brilliant replacement for the rhinoceros which originally occupied the historic Casson building which were not at all suited to the space.

Leon zoo had a warthog . Mexican laws now forbid the importation of pigs into the country so that animal was not replaced when it died. The best exhibit I have seen is the white lipped peccary and collared peccary enclosures at Zoomat, Chiapas, though there are various acceptable enclosures for peccaries in Mexican zoos.

I would definitely agree with you about the peccary enclosures at zoomat being the best in the country and in general I would say that zoomat is in fact the best zoo in Mexico. It really makes use of the terrain and surroundings that it has very well in the landscaping of the enclosures.

I also think that San Juan de Aragon has a great enclosure for peccary and the climate, planting and terrain of the site is really put to good use for collared peccary and other species from arid zones.
