Which Zoo Has the Most...?

Well, ZOO Dvur Kralove's website was no help at all. There was a species list for their African Savanna; it only had 3 species, none of them hoofstock. I tried to see a species list for their summer exhibits, but all that came up was slots for putting in your contact information!!!

Don't forget ZootierlisteHomepage for European zoo stocklists - usually much more up-to-date than any other source!

Enter the zoo name (or part name) into search for the current stocklist. :)

A search says they have 7 with emperor, king, Magellanic, Humboldt, adelie, gentoo and macaroni. Wakayama Adventure World (Japan) also has 7 with emperor, king, jackass, adelie, gentoo, chinstrap and rockhopper.

Faunia (Madrid) also has 7 - King, Adelie, Chinstrap, Gentoo, Rockhopper, Magellanic and Humboldt.
Jurong may have eight species: jackass, Humboldt's, little blue, king, macaroni, southern rockhopper, eastern rockhopper, northern rockhopper

(it depends on whether one splits the rockhoppers or not, and of course if they still have all three there)

Thanks for the link. I forgot about this website!

Anyway, I counted 48 species. That's it?? :) Maybe they're not up to date, or some species aren't listed? Maybe I missed some...

Well, for Berlin Tierpark (Friedrichsfelde), I counted over 75 species, including subspecies. The total was 81, but I doubt that's right. I was getting frustrated counting off of that long list, so I may have counted some twice or missed some. But there was definitely over 70 species. You sure SDZSP has more than that?

Deyoung Zoo;
Hyena's, they keep breeding pairs or a group of spotted and striped hyena also, it is rumored they have acquired aardwolf.

As already noted higher up this thread, Tierpark Berlin have all four species (in adjacent enclosures, no less!). :)

Thank you for the information, condor. I'm still searching for the largest number of ungulates, though! :D

I noticed no one had tackled Odd-toed Ungulates specficially

I did a little research on Zootierliste, and what I could figure out for North American Zoos. The total numbers are total number of species, and if there's 2 numbers such as "3,4" that means 3 unique species, 4 unique subspecies. I didn't count domestic horse, only Przewalski's Horse. If I have any of the numbers wrong please let me know.

There are 16 total species of Odd-toed Ungulates:

On total unique species Berlin TP wins with 8 -and that's with 0 Tapirs, but all 7 Horse species! (Unless I'm missing something from San Diego WAP)

Total unique subspecies is won by ZOO Dvůr Králové with 10.

Most well rounded collections would be Berlin Zoo, or Zoo Miami with 7 total, and at least 2 from each of the 3 types.

Honorable mention for Chester Zoo which also has 2 of each type. 6 total.

Berlins combined have 11 unique species.

San Diego Zoo and WAP combined have 9 or 10 unique species.

If you were able to combine Los Angeles with San Diegos you may have as many as 12 unique species. If this was done a few years back this trio had 14 of 16, missing only lowland tapir and Javan Rhino (obviously).

Here's how the breakdowns looked:

Again if anything isn't correct or I'm missing a collection with 6 or more please let me know.

Most extensive hoofstock collection could be Tierpark Berlin, Dvur or possibly San Diego WAP? Dvur kralove will win when dealing to the most extensive antelope collection.

Also I did a quick count of the 2 Berlin collections by searching on Zootierliste for Even-toed, and Odd-toed and adding them together (not counting domestic species)

I got 52 for Berlin TP and 59 for Berlin Zoo. These numbers include subspecies. Very impressive numbers considering there isn't much overlap between the 2 zoos. They might have close to 100 total between the two of them! Hence one of my favorite places in the world!

San Diego WAP (AKA Safari Park) may defeat either Berlin:

Here I've listed between 62-69 species/subspecies, compared to 52 for Berlin TP and 59 for Berlin Zoo. It's possible when I searched Zootierliste not everything that's there actually popped up. Let me know what you think.

Anything with a ? I'm not sure if they still have. If anyone can verify this list that'd be great! If I'm missing anything please let me know. Anything listed as domestic on Zootierliste I didn't list here (Camels, Cattle, etc)

It´s not even close, but Lisbon has around 45 species of Ungulates, including all Hippotraginae species in captitvity except Beisa, even if it was kept until some time ago, as was Giant Sable Antelope.
I would also like to add that there might be some more off-show species and some might not be in the collection anymore.

Tucans and aracaris should be Dallas World Aquarium
Tanagers should also be Dallas World Aquarium

Concerning the Perissodactyla found in US zoos this is a more accurate count:

San Diego - 8
Disney - 6
Miami - 6
White Oak - 6
Denver - 6
Fossil Rim - 6

Can I add an Australian collection to the list of odd-toed ungulates? Dubbo Zoo would be placed somewhere near the top of the North American or European list with three rhino species (black, white, and Indian), three horses (zebras, Persian onager, and Przewalski's horse), and one tapir (Brazilian). Pretty good for a country with very low ungulate diversity because a few of these are the only ones in the country.

An update: (since I can't edit my other post)
