"Big 5" is a common term for the 5 largest, most impressive species which you can hunt (or nowadays, fotograph) when going on safari in Africa - african elephant, white rhino, lion, leopard, cape buffalo. Giraffes are not part of the "big 5"! Whipsnade has borrowed this term and made some adjustments, hm.
african elephant= Asian Elephant
African liom= African Lion
White Rhino= Greater Indian One horned Rhino
Cape Buffalo= Reticulated Giraffe
African Leopard= Eurasian Brown Bear
As I stated in the opening post, it's a random assortment.
I knew of the African Big 5, but Yassa's description is probably where the Whipsnade one comes from. Those 5 are the most likely ones to be photographed at Whipsnade
But correct me if i`m wrong but aren`t all of Whipsnades BIG 5 at or very near to a bus stop,if so technically it is inter linked with the bus route even if that was how Whipsnade planned it.lol! It is nothing to do with the bus route!
The Big 5 are just 5 of the biggest animals available to see at the zoo. There are also talks and demonstrations re: these animals.
The bigger animals tend to be the most popular and viewed anyway!![]()
Thank god for that for awhile i thought i was going mad and it was time for me to up the medication again to bring me back to normal but it seems i must already be as normal as i`m ever going to get.No, you are correct zoogiraffe, so we were right even if the park didn't plan it.
