If possibe could you get some photos of inside the Indian rhino house

Tigerlemurguy, the gaur are either in the old black rhino house or in one of the old paddocks by the indian rhino.

i'll be visiting next week, so anything that Tiger misses out, I'll try to find.

The Gaur may have been moved back to their original paddock (next to Indian rhinos) by now. If not, and they are still in ex Black rhino house they are difficult to see properly as there are two barrier fences.

My greatest apologies, but i did not see the gaur, spent ages walking round the two ares said to see them but no luck

the weather was great and i had a lovely day.

was very lucky to see the newest elephant calf born in february (i think)

one question, i saw there was another female with the adult male, who was this and are they trying to breed her?

The new rhino house was small but good and was great too see the two youngsters! see my photos for indoors of the rhino house.

Other youngsters i saw: Onager, Oryx, Prezwalkskis Horse, Sealion, White Rhino and Giraffe.

Cheetah Rock was actually very dissapointing, the cheetahs were still in quarantine and only had select areas to view them, the enclosures could have been bigger and more natural but it seemed a nice theme.

Another question at the original site of the cheetahs a pair still remain, a board says they are moving to another collection, does anyone know where?

The photos will be up in a few minutes

im glad you ad a great day Tigerlemurguy i have never been to Whipsnade (hope to in the very near future tho) it looks a great place to visit with so many animals shame you never got to see the Gaur:(

Glad you had a good day at Whipsnade cheers for the photos of the inside of the rhino house

Thanks for the update and some good photos!

As I said earlier, I'll be visiting this week and now will spend extra time at the gaur enclosure in hope of seeing them.

Jimmy if you see any keepers in the area where the Gaurs are would you ask someone if they intead to add any more to the Whipsnade herd, maybe importing some from Europe :)

i saw a sign for gaur near opposite the asian elephants but the stables and paddock was empty :(

For such huge animals they seem very elusive...I can only presume they will return to their old paddock shortly- from the rhino house opposite the Giraffe? They are/were much easier to see in their old paddock.

I'm going on 11th October. If no one else has posted any pics of the gaur by then I'll try to take some.

Did anyone have an anwer to my questions?

1. I saw there was another female with the adult male, who was this and are they trying to breed her?

2. At the original site of the cheetahs a pair still remain, a board says they are moving to another collection, does anyone know where?

The female who was with the bull Emmet was probably Mya; she is not coming along with one of the other females, Kaylee, and she is not taken out of the enclosure for walks (because she killed a keeper in London). When the others are taken out for a walk or when they are put in one enclosure to socialize, Mya stays with Emmet.

Are you on about cheetah's here? If so I thought there original cheetah's were moving on to WMSP, also they were to recieve a group of females of the new sub-species. Which half were due to go to chester once there qurrantine period was up.

Am sure I read this all on the boards here, but hopefully someone will confirm this or correct me.
