What has happened to the white naped cranes at Chester? They appear on the report that Bongorob gave out to be dead. What happened to them? The male was only 17 or something like that and the'd had a chick last year! It's puzzling me.....

It is puzzling me too, I would assume they died from illness specific to cranes since none of the birds nearby seem to have been affected. It is a pity they no longer have them, especially since the pair bred a chick. It was this species which started off my interest in cranes. The very first specimen at Chester only lived for two days, he had to be put down after a Hawaiian Goose accidentally broke his leg with its wing.

The wattled cranes are the only species of Crane at Chester which haven't bred. Is that because they are hard to breed or is it just because of they're agressive behaviour? I nearly got pecked by one on several occasions at Blackbrook.

Apparently the male wattled crane at Chester is known by the nickname 'killer'. They can be agressive.

Yes, I mentioned on another thread that balckbrook have had to install flowerbeds inbetween the public and the birds due to the pais aggressive behaviour. My website has a nice report on the filmscenes section. Check it out!!
