Who and how many zoochatters have you met?

We need to come up with a funny hat or silly walk or something that we can use to inform other ZooChatter's of our presence.

Wouldn't usually help you spot me, but I've found a notebook is often a good clue!

Plus, if they have a camera, taking wide shots of exhibits and public areas as well as animals - again, doesn't apply to all Zoochatters, but certainly points to a zoo nerd rather than an average punter. :D

Noticing I spent a lot of time at the Marbled Polecat and Tibetan Golden Cat exhibits is certainly how GentleLemur identified me at Edinburgh!

I've only met 2 zoochatters from on here.

Bongorob and Zoogiraffe.

Arranged to meet up with them a couple of times at Chester Zoo in the past.

As we have discussed Zoochatters can be difficult to identify and may be cryptic. What I would like to know is what is the age and sex distribution of Zoochatterers? I suspect a bimodal distribution, Zoo geeks <30 years, and zoo nerds >50, with a strong skew towards males? Am I correct?

You are definitely correct about the strong skew towards male members, although there are still quite a lot of female Zoochatters, but your assumption that there are fewer members in the age range 30-50 is incorrect; I suspect there are just as many in this grouping as the over-50s, though not as many as the under-30s due to the number of mayfly-members who have joined in a fit of early teenage enthusiasm then drifted off or been banned.
 
I'd probably guess at the regular posters being reasonably evenly spread between below 30, 30-50, and over 50.
