The old Blue Zoobeat, can you believe its been almost 2 years like this! well actually over 2 years

Shows how adictted some of us are!

oh yeeeeeeeah!

you mean before there was evan avatars and different sections? :)

prior to zoobeat i used to correspond with jay (who also corresponded with nigel) on email. jay had started a (no doubt now derelict) website on zoos of australia and new zealand and it was about the only australiasian zoofan site on the web

one of them discovered sim's forum here, and we all joined up. back then i think we were about the only people here, but rapidly the other started appearing... glyn, mark, yourself, zoopro and the most enthusiastic zoogroupie to date - Zoo_Boy!!!

Another one from Dubbo, who unfortunatly seems to have moved on was Zukipah. I hope that she is well.

I also remember also corresponding with Jay about animal news and sending him the odd bit of news, Jay told me about the Zoobeat site, Cheers Jay

I came across Jays website of Australian and NZ zoos . It was pretty empty back then , but I thought it had good potential .
I emailed Jay and offered to help him out with zoos from NZ -- all the photos in it were taken by myself . He mentioned that he was emailing another zoo fan called Patrick .

I come across the Zoobeat forum by accident , and recognised Jays description of his website ( Jay is not his real name )
I must have joined about the same time as Patrick .

Well actually, our 5 year anniversary is coming up in October this year!

I just had a look back through the stats - the site has been running for 54 months this month, and it took 38 months (until Nov 2006) for our first 100 user registrations and then only 4 months to reach our next 100 registrations! In the last 12 months we have had over 400 new users register on the site!

We now have 274 members who have posted on the site at least once!

One other interesting fact - this site now generates 50% more traffic than my other main website InvestEd, which has more than 7 times the number of users (although only 665 of them have posted at least once - so that makes it just under 3 times the number of active users - still impressive).

Well done everyone!

Cool, now does anyone know of a similar forum for organic gardening and farming in Ausyralia, I'd be very grateful.:D

What's also interesting is how many UK plus some European and American zoofans have latched on to this site in recent months. There isn't a similar UK Zooforum but there wouldn't be much point in creating one as anyone worth their salt uses this one now...:)

Your dead right about that one, LOL. We have now grown into a truely international forum

Very true - and the stats back this up ... we now get substantially more traffic from the UK than we do from Australia - and the US is catching up fast.

When we first started, it was all AU and NZ, then the UK caught on (you Brits are very passionate about your zoos aren't you ? :D ), and initially we had very little traffic from the US (it was way down the list), but is now up to number 3.

The attached chart displays it nicely - number of visits over the past month by country.

I did a quick google search and came back with a couple of forums - but didn't find anything that I thought was particularly user friendly or active.

Let me know if you don't find anything good out there - I might be able to find time to create another forum (my wife is fairly interested in the topic of organic food and gardening - although she probably wouldn't contribute).

On the topic of new forums - I'm considering creating a forum for nature photography - which is one of my other passions.

Thanks for the offer Sim, I'll see how I go with finding forums. Zoobeat has always been very user friendly and I thank you very much for it.

I remember when I first joined, the more times you posted the higher position you were given . I don't think i made it to junior keeper. I think after 100posts you were given the rank of senior zookeeper. I wonder what zoo boy would be now with all his posts.
