Aquariums in Japan has attempted to exhibit Salmon Sharks, but has not succeeded in long-term exhibits.

Despite their smaller size, they deal with most of the same issues as semi-pelagic, far-ranging and ram-ventilating lamniform sharks. And the key difference is they aren’t quite as well known or well marketed, sad as it is to say. It’s not as consistently revenue-generating to attempt it, and I think that’s your reason Monterey skipped right to great whites.
