Chester Zoo Why no walk throughs/free roaming?

Did you go out of season or in bad weather? If so that would be the reason for seeing no lemurs.

Everytime I've been I have seen the ring-tailed & black & white ruffed despite the weather or time of year, Johnny Morris must be really unlucky!
Monkey Tails deserves an honourable mention as well in my opinion.

Never seen a lemur in their walkthrough myself either ;)

I think that the number of visitors to Chester and its situation, right between suburbs and farmland, could cause problems with any free-ranging species.
It's worth pointing out that the Miniature Monkeys exhibit, with its path winding between two thickly planted barless enclosures for marmosets and tamarins (and probably titis soon as well) has the best features of a walkthrough, with none of the disadvantages.
Also the Islands plans include an indoor walkthrough aviary in the Indonesian House and an outdoor walkthrough aviary for Bali mynahs and lorikeets.

Chester had free-ranging marmosets some years ago, in the area west of the Oakfield. Cannot remember the whys and wherefores of their withdrawal from display.
