Wild Florida Wild Florida Zoo News

The drive-through safari now has a whole herd of Javan Banteng. Based on the park's socials I thought it was just 3 bulls. Turns out it's an entire herd! I'm guessing they must be from the Center For The Conservation of Tropical Ungulates in Arcadia. Saw them close up only a few feet from the car! I will write a review when I have more time.

Update from my visit today

No sign of the before mentioned rhino fence was seen in the safari park. This ether meens that they scrapped there plans to get rhinos, or they are going to get rhinos and alow them to live with the animals on the main car path like in Lion Country Safari

The venomous reptile building is complete and has Black Mambas, Egyptian Cobras, Rattlesnakes (Dusky pigmy and Dimond back), tree boas, and a few other species

Baby water buffalo, elk, deer, wildebeests and Jacobs sheep were in the safari park

Did you enjoy your visit? I'm thinking about visiting here when I go up north soon. I see they give Florida residents discounts, so it won't break the bank as bad.

It was good. Some of the enclosures in the walk though area of the park could definitely do some touching up but many of them were just fine, and the safari park is always really cool to see. Florida resendents get in for around $26, and that includes both parks.

I just went a few days ago. The safari ride should have Nile Crocodiles in the first pool and the second one has American Crocodile according to a sign, though I didn't see any.

The gator park currently keeps American Alligator, Spectacled Caiman, Dwarf Caiman, Hall's Crocodile, Orinoco Croc, Cuban Croc and Slender-snouted Croc. Siamese and Morelet's are apparently no longer present, despite the park pamphlet still listing them.

Also, here is the complete list of species for the snake area.
  • Banded Water Snake
  • Black Mamba
  • Eastern Green Mamba
  • Snouted Cobra
  • Egyptian Cobra
  • Inland Taipan
  • Puff Adder
  • Gaboon Viper
  • Florida Cottonmouth
  • Eastern Diamondback
  • Barbour's Pygmy Rattlesnake
  • Emerald Tree Boa

Does the zoo not have cotton-top tamarins anymore? They made a couple posts about them on Facebook in 2022.
