Well, that finally answered what animal was coming. So the rhino was placed in September and shot the day after it arrived, and they had some barbary sheep escape last March and were shot. That is two pretty major escape and shootings in one year - that is not good. I have a pretty high view of this facility from a exhibitor stand point, but apparently they need some work on their protocols and enclosure design. White rhino are so frequently displayed it should not be a problem to design an enclosure for them that meets safety standards.
 
There's also at least one private breeder with a lot of rhinos in Florida, and they're known to be very hands-off, which can result in animals having a hard time adjusting to suddenly being around people, being worked with, etc. Given this was the first rhino at Wild Florida, they might not have had the capabilities or knowledge to slowly work with a rhino that's struggling to adjust.
 
Report from my last visit on 6/12

Baby blackbuck, wildebeest, bison, pere davids and zebra were spotted in the safari park.

What would have been the rhino enclosure is now home to three Bactrian camels. The encolsure is built in the cypris swamp area near the padoc with the oryx and gemsbock.

More dromedary camels have been added to the safari park

Capybaras have been moved to the outdoor area.

A new Australian exhibit has been added in the gator park, witch has the wallaby, new red kangaroos, and one emu. The old Austrila exhibit has a toucan in it, but I belive that is only temporary.

I don't know if this is new or not, but I saw a Sulawesi Sailfin Lizard in one of there exotic exibits
 
They are Westerns

And they have had a slender snout for at least 2 years, these are recent arrivals
