For sport yes, but as invasive species they have damaged the local environment, where herbivorous mammals are not exactly in great supply.
From a conservation perspective, it would be helpful to relocate all Himalayan thar to India-Nepal and set these up for release/ in country captive-breeding in northern Indian zoos.
