Manor House Wildlife Park Wild Welsh zoo

The last episode focused on Steve (the gibbon) mostly and his mate Lisa; bringing her in from Ireland (she had to be sent to quarentine at another, English zoo that belonged to the same company as Fota, where she came from, due to red tape) and putting her on the island first. Steve was put on the island last (went into his box fine but panicked whilst being driven across the zoo) but unlike Lisa, he hadn't plucked up the courage to go on the island by the end of the ep. He got about midway across the branch bridge before backing inside again, but he and Lisa appeared to have hit it off :)

There was also a short bit about two escaped marmosets (who were also put on an island, but had apparently hopped across thick mats of algae onto the mainland trees nearby). The staff soon lured them back though once they got hungry.

I think that was the last episode anyway! There may have been a few other bits in there, but not much, I don't think. There was nothing more on the rhinos. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :o

i clearly stated in my post that it is no longer on bbc i player, hence the reason i asked if it could be viewed anywhere else? things are usually only available for 7 days after the transmission date.

sorry somehow skimmed over that part!

Rhino's have still not arrived. They will now most likely come from another European zoo and will be 2:0. The paddock and accomidation for them is now complete and fingers crossed that they should move in later this year.

Anyone know if another series of Wild Welsh Zoo is planned?

I thought Fota was connected with/owned by Dublin Zoo. Maybe I am wrong? Do you know what the English Zoo was that is connected with/owned with Fota?

She was quarantined at a zoo in the midlands (most likely Twycross) the zoo that she went to had nothing to do with Fota. They were simply asked to help out by keeping her until the months? quarentine was up.

I think that Manor House WLP was not registered under the 'Balai Convention' for direct stock inportations from abroad .

I understood it from the programme as the quarentine site being another zoo connected to the Fota one, so my mistake :o

The 2010 large and colourful leaflet states that the new Rhino quarters will be completed Summer 2010 .

Unlike the old regime the park will now be open year-round . A season ticket is twice the price of a single visit ticket .

Very sad this , the local paper last night says the little boy is still in Intensive care .

In the area of the Wallaby Enclosure there are some enormous , probably quite old , trees . With trees such as this there is always the risk of pieces falling off . I would assume that the Park's Insurers would insist that these trees had been checked out by a Tree Surgeon for dead branches etc. - perhaps not ?

Developments here seem distinctly on a parallel with Dartmoor Wildlife Park. Both were taken on by novice owners who 'wanted a zoo' and are still discovering the terrific expense, and other problems such as this unfortunate incident, involved in the upkeep of these Parks. Both also seem to be relying heavily on media and/or film interest to help them bring in cash.

I hope the boy gets better.

on a different subject, the park planned rhino's are they still waiting? what's the current situation?

Seems like the injured boy is out of Intensive Care and his mother is out of hospital - the other two members of the family were behind on the path and unharmed .

The Health and Safety Office is investigating the accident .
