Wilhelma Zoo Wilhelma zoo, Stuttgart

The Wilhelma started to keep Babirusas 1975 but had only little breeding-succes. Now, after a break of 14 years, again a piglet was born :).
 
This time a really special and important birth.By the way-the Wilhelma had a good success in breeding them, not only a little.
 
No changes happened during the last months. I expect, that NAYAMBI and HUENDA (born born in 2006) are going to leave the group during the next months.
 
Today,"Hannibal"the Pygmy Hippo turns 49 years old-he is the oldest Pygmy Hippo ever,and his still doing well. He was born at Copenhagen and came to Stuttgart together with his one year older full sister"Nellie"to Stuttgart in 1967. Both became parents of six calfs, of which one is still alive-the 1975 born"Sophie" ,now at Krefeld Zoo.

So I hope, he will made his 50th Birthday next year.
 
No one mentioned it here so I guess better late than never: Nayembi gave birth to a daughter on the 29th August. I have heard a rumour she's called Nila, and her father is either Mobikisi, Zorba (+) or Kasai.
 
They are bonobos. The Wilhelma also celebrates the 50th Years Anniversary of the female Gorilla"Mimi". She is now 52 years old came to Stuttgart in 1965.
 
Yes, bonobos; with the addition of Nila that makes a total of 14 in Stuttgart, and 116 across Europe.

Tests have proven who's the father of the latest Bonobo-baby Nila. Its Kasai. In the meantime another female - Huenda - is expecting a baby soon :).

I'm holidaying in Germany soon and visiting Wilhelma, I'm curious to know her name for various reasons.
And is there a list anyone could show me with all the bonobo names? I want to know some background about them before I visit.

Banbo is indeed the daughter of Banya. Both her and her sister Khaya (currently in La Vallee Des Singes, aged 14) were rejected at birth and thus were hand-reared. The two arrived in Stuttgart in 2005 at the ages of 4 and 3 respectively, and remained there together until Khaya left in 2009 to start the group in La Vallee Des Singes together with four other bonobos from Stuttgart; Kombote's son Kirembo, and female Daniela and her two sons David and Diwani.
