Woburn Safari Park Woburn news 2012

Thank you both for the replies,i'm glad there are more than just the one wolf i saw!

there is actually 1 iberian wolf in the either 2 or 3 timber wolfs it escaped from the iberian pen as a pup and got adopted by the timbers

Do you know whether Blackpool will have the whole group, or just some of them?

The plans seemed to have changed, I was told it was the brother-sister pairing that was born in 2010 and now on several other threads it seems to be either a pair plus two pups or just two. Unsure of the current situation will try to find out on Saturday/Sunday.

Think they mean 'Rare Antelope'.;)

The press aren't always good with some information. :p Interesting that Woburn have bred three calves already this year. The male seems to know what he is doing.

Woburn was studbook holder of the species.
Shame Jake Veasey left ...

That task has now gone to Marwell.

I saw a repeat episode of Safari Park on Animal Planet the other day & was rather surprised they showed the keepers getting within a few feet of the bears, wolves & drill, almost close enough to hand feed them. They have a problem with people feeding the monkeys, despite signs showing the size of their teeth, i wonder whether it was wise to present these potentially dangerous animals as being almost 'tame'.

1:1 Small Clawed Otter have now arrived to replace the Lynx who recently transfered to Scotland. Male is from Welsh Mountain and female from Cotswolds

Visited the park on Wednesday and was pleased to see yet another baby giraffe. This time it's a male, only about a week old. Don't know the mother's name yet.

Woburn Safari Park has focussed on upgrading the animal housing between 2007-2011 period, spending over £5m in order to provide the best accommodation and welfare standards for the animals - a priority for any wildlife collection.

To benefit our visitors, we have also installed the following new attractions and facilities in the past 24 months: a new Visitor Enrichment Centre, Swan Lake Cafe, Treetops Action Trail (a junior high ropes course).

We are in the process of completing two very exciting new attractions this summer, which I hope you will consider visiting. The first is a brand new 3D Safari Cinema Experience opening at the end of July. This combines a fantastic 3D cinema screen with outstanding 3D visual quality and an indoor sea lion show in the newly upgraded 'Sea Lion Cove'.

The new 'Elephant Meadows' enclosure will open in early August, bringing visitors breathtakingly close to our herd of Asian elephants. You can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the elephants as they enjoy a unique habitat, with a specially designed combination of grass, sand and water areas, unparalleled space and natural shade. 'Elephant Meadows' offers the elephants the variety of natural landscapes they would naturally seek out in the wild and therefore enhances the park’s special care for the elephant herd.

found this on trip advisor thought others might find this useful

3000 sq. feet?! That must be a mistake, it would be so small not worth mentioning. I guess it is more like 3000 sq. meters.
Does anyone know if Yu Zin has finally been introduced to the other 2 females and if they spend time together in the outdoor paddocks unsupervised by the keepers?

anyone that has been recently confirm if they had tigers still thanks

They certainly did when I was there on 22nd of July this year.
