Hello, i'm working at Woburn Safari park on the lions section ( lions, tigers, bears and wolves).

If you need informations :)

Hi Cottoni, Whats happening with the Asian elephant herd there are they expending the size of the herd, is there any sign of them breeding yet

Hi,

the elephants have just moved in their new house. I don't know how it is going about breeding, i'll ask :)

Weren't those three elephants bought up together from babies? If so, then do you think they will ever breed? Might they sort of think of each other as brothers and sisters, but nothing more?

Hi there, you know, I'm not very informed about the elephant section.

We have 16 lions: 1 male, 3 castrated males, 3 youngs and the females.

3 tigers: 1male and 2 females separated from the male because he's not pure.

We've got 7 bears, 2 males ( 1castrated and 1 had vasectomy).

6 wolves.

So you offer to give information out, and when someone asks for it, you throw it back in their face with some sarcastic answer?

Sorry, that was just annoying lol

I was just thinking of more important information...like what they are fed on, or if they breed...

Our tigers are Korushka, Neurka and Tosh.

For the lions, I don't know all of them for the moment :

Shain the male, Gemma Tambi et Naja the 3 dominant females and Ace, Flint and Balaa the 3 castrated males.

I don't know the names of the wolves.

I know George and Rough the 2 males bears and I don't know the names of the 5 females.

was the decision to end the breeding potential of the two male bears undertaken when there were only two males left? This will be the last of this species in the UK when this group dies out now. A shame, but they are probably the lowest priority for a bear species in conservation terms.

I think a lot of people on this board are interested in the elephants. Are there plans to bring in any more, if so do you know when this is happening/ where they are coming from? Have the current 3 shown any breeding behaviour so far?

thanks

Do you have any plans or pictures of the new elephant house?

Last I heard, the plans had to be significantly scaled back due to budgetary reasons...

I posted a photo of the three Woburn elephants in their paddock last September/October. You can see the construction of the new building in the top left corner... It is quite a large building- despite them not getting the funding for the original larger complex they had planned. I believe the intention is to add up to ten more females(or is it ten in total?) to the existing trio. New paddocks will attatch to the building.

Cottoni- Have the current elephants moved into the new building yet?

As iv'e already said, they moved in the new house last week. it is not esay to get informations 'cause I'm on the lion section.

The house was supposed to be bigger yes but it is very huge compared to what we can see in France ! regardring the ten animals, I have no idea.

Why do you not breed the bears?

sorry, I missed that bit of information. I read somewhere they are planning to get a lot more elephants- this building is certainly big enough to hold quite a number.
