What diseases are circulating which would likely cause this?
The only one I can think of is Bluetongue, but a quick check on DEFRAs web-site would confirm/refute this without further speculation.
The closure comes at the same time as last year.
 
Just had a look on defra website and it shows a zone right down to Mablethorpe and includes Louth which is not far from Wolds Wildlife park.

Did it say that zoos in or near a zone had to close to general public visitors? We never heard of this last time there was a major outbreak and much publicity about same.

11 September 2024: Following surveillance within the Zone two further cases of BTV-3 have been confirmed. The temporary control zone (TCZ) and temporary control area has been extended. Movement restrictions apply to cattle, sheep and other ruminants and camelids and their germinal products.

10 September 2024: Following surveillance within the Zone a further case of BTV-3 has been confirmed. The temporary control zone (TCZ) and temporary control area has been extended.

4 September 2024: following a report of clinical suspicion in a bull on a premises near Withernsea, East Riding of Yorkshire bluetongue serotype 3 (BTV-3) has been confirmed. A 20km temporary control zone has been declared. Movement restrictions apply to cattle, sheep and other ruminants and their germinal products.

This whole speculation about serious diseases seems to be just that.
The only such disease circulating at the moment is Bluetongue, and the control zone covering most of East Anglia is more severe than the small surveillance zone in part of Lincolnshire. The main zone includes Thrigby, Banham, Africa Alive and Colchester, and to the best of my knowledge none of these are closed.
The closure at Wolds must be due to something else - AND as I said above it happened at roughl;y the same time last year too.
 
The Wolds closure is nothing to do with any viruses etc. Not my place to say what it is though, but it is closed for the time being. They want to try and get back open asap, but it's not straightforward.
 
They don't have a zoo license only a dangerous wild animal license and with that the can open certain amount of times a year while with a zoo licence it's all year round pretty much

Financially and emotionally we are really proud of the successful growth and constant improvements we’ve been able to make to the park since it opened in December 2019, and to sincerely wish and thank all of our loyal customers who have helped make the Wolds Wildlife Park a fabulous visitor attraction for all, and a huge asset to Horncastle.

That’s a shame.

I wonder if they will retain the animals given the irreconcilable differences about the future and indeed what will happen to those animals they have. It’s got to have funding from somewhere. There will obviously also be jobs at stake for customer service staff as well as keepers so hopefully they will do something positive for their sake too.

In terms of future and the current differences speculation wise it might well be land suitable for building on and there’s more money in that for some people than having lions.
 
I think the park's Facebook page might have been deleted? I saw the message that Devi posted yesterday evening but went back to view it again a few hours later and couldn't find it. It did have a whiff of one person making a statement then someone else adding to it afterwards to me, maybe that didn't go down well?

Looks like it ... I checked their FB on Friday, and I can't find it now, and the website isn't working either.
