It would help if you mentioned what zoo you are talking about...Can anyone tell me whether there were any wolves (Canis Lupus), and Black (Ursus Americanus) or Brown (Ursus Arctos) bears at the zoo in 1947 and 1948? I'm researching a book - it's fiction, but I don't want to get caught out...

Imdeed, London Zoo acquired a pair of Kodiak bears on 25th June 1946; they were presented by Alfred Ezra, the well-known aviculturist. These two Kodiak bears were soon sent to Whipsnade, so the zoo didn't have Kodiak bears continuously from 1946 until the 50s/60s.London Zoo acquired Kodiak bears in 1946 which were kept until the 50s/60s so yes there were brown bears at the zoo.
