No one watching World Cup? The greatest sporting spectacle on the planet?

Or are the Brits just sour-grapes because they are out, as per usual, in the first round? :p

Suarez needs a muzzle, am I right? :D

Who is going to win? I'm saying Argentina!

I'm a Canadian (with British ancestry) and I've watched all 44 matches so far. I'm obsessed with the World Cup and so far it has been a brilliant, high-scoring tournament that has enthralled me for the past two weeks. The most abysmal English side of all time has crashed out and I usually end up cheering for either the Brazilians, Dutch or perhaps an underdog nation.

I cheered for Australia, and luckily our team colours are the same as Brazil's, so it's easy to still back a winner. :D

The biggest sport spectacle on earth are still the olympic games, but I really like the WC too. And it is a great tournament so far, except the many mistakes the referees keep making... And it is especially nice for me to watch because my favourite teams (Netherlands and Germany) are doing rather well :)

It has indeed been a high scoring so far!

But I have to disagree with you that this England Team is the most abysmal one of all team, that honour has to go to the great side that could even qualify to get to the World Cup when it was hosted in the USA,no team that has qualified to get to play in the group stages can be that bad as they have all had to qualify,to get to Brazil also just remember that this is probably the youngest England team that has been sent to a World Cup in well over 30 years!

Now have to say go Holland and Germany!!

Nice to see The Netherlands and Germany are not only my favorites. I myself am Dutch and my wife German so quite a logical choich :)
A pitty the Dutch had to eliminate the Mexicans this evening because after having visited this country end last / beginning this year they also had my sympaty !
Now it's up to Germany to reach the next round.....

As a soccer fan I should rejoice, just the whole FIFA clique is corrupting our people's' sport makes it dour sour grapes … What .. a non profit organization with costs all to organizers, no locals allowed to make a little money and FIFA winnings … and tax exempt from everything and everyone. It is our sport you stupid ...:(

They are my favourite teams too, but well, I have a German mother :p

And now Costa Rica is waiting and they should be able to win that game, honestly....

Now Forza Germany

It is interesting how things can change:

A few years ago, Dutch and Germans always hoped, that the other team will lose. And know, many crossed their fingers for the other team as well (as I does not only for Switzerland and Germany, but also for the Netherlands, although I have no relatives there). My cry after the last dutch goal must have been heard within a mile...;)

Is there a "I'm an European" feeling growing?

Not if "your" European team loses to another European team due to unfair/dubious reasons...;)

Well, I think there won't have to be "unfair/dubious resons" - when the different European Teams encounter each other, the "European Feeling" will be finished anyway;):p (But I presume this is also valid for other continents)

Pooh, that was breathtaking! Sitting at the computer and try to relax after an epic fight between Germany and Algeria.
Defensive but clever playing outsider that fought the entire time and did not surrender until the last second. Algerians can really be proud to their team.
Still, all in all, Germany deserved the victory. They did more for the game, have had more ball possessions, more goal chances, more shots. The same is valid imo for France, that has played against Nigeria before. Hope for a great game in the quarter finals between those great football nations.

@ zoomaniac : I agree completly with you about the German - Algeria game ! Congrates to Germany and great agem Algeria !
The France - Nigeria game I didn't see ( I have to work from time to time ;) ) so I can't say anything about it.

I have watched several matches, including all 5 matches in which Colombia has participated, and i´m glad we haven´t lost any match until now, although i´m a bit worried for this friday, as Brazil is a great opponent.

ps. Did you see James Rodriguez first goal against Uruguay, excellent :)

I used to love Colombian football a generation ago. Higuita and his scorpion kick, Valderrama and his hair, Escobar and his own goal. Good times.
