Worst Elephant Exhibits in the US

Yes I realise that, but I think I wasn't clear in my question. I was more just asking "have the USDA posted zoo inspection reports in the last couple of years", given the combination of the quote from the article about them no longer being posted openly and your comment on this zoo's last citation being from 2017.

But I had a look and they are being posted, so that's answered for me.

Yes, they're all being posted. The stop in uploads was around 2016/2017ish (not sure of specifics). I have thousands of reports downloaded from the last couple of years.

I noticed that the SDZ’s Elephant Odyssey gets a lot of negative criticism for their elephant exhibit, but I think it isn’t as bad as people try to portray it. Iv’e been there numerous times, and I noticed that the elephants are always spread out, so I think they have more than enough space. Plus, the large pond in the exhibit is a great feature, as it allows them to cool off during the hot Southern California summers. However, I think they could improve it by adding grass and making those weird umbrella-shaped thingies look more natural. Other than that, its a pretty great exhibit that just needs a little more green.

This is quasi off topic, but what was the rationale for this thread being posted in the general forum instead of the U.S. one?

While it is no longer relevant, the old Lincoln Park elephant exhibit was way too small. You could say that even the old Brookfield one at least had more to do and overall space. But that's in the past.

The latter zoo has enough potential to make a bigger and better elephant exhibit with enough reconstruction (Looks at the Hoofstock area).

I think the general issue is how it looks and how much money was used. Overall it isn't as beautiful as the rest of the zoo. Those umbrella things are ultitrees which were supposed to have plants growing on the top of them that would grow down but that didn't work. They were going to provide shade and food as well. Another large issue is that the theme isn't very obvious for normal zoo guests. My friends went to the zoo once and decided to do the tour first but were confused what the exhibit was and why all the animals were out of place. They also thought is was very ugly with the old utilitrees and all the dirt.
