Worst Movies

"Popeye!" Robin Williams did the best he could with such a terrible script. I'm still apologizing to my wife for taking her on a date to see this stinker. And as a musical? Just one listen to Olive Oil singing "He's Large" will make you cringe at the poor song writing. Possibly the worst song ever written for a film.

Anyone been to see the new X-Men movie? Could you please tell me if it any good or worth seeing at the cinemas, or rather at home?

I saw it last week and really liked it, as with all the X-men films (and GI Joe and Transformers - don't know what people are complaining about above!). I would definitely recommend it, some pretty cool scenes at the end which look great on the big screen :D.

I can't really think what the worst movie I have ever seen was, I tend to enjoy most, but bad CG really annoys me, especially in recent films (eg Narnia trilogy, 10,000 BC (bad on soooo may levels), Sabretooth, etc). I think spoof movies are also terrible, can't stand epic movie/date movie/disaster movie/vampires suck et al. But I think overall that 10,000 BC was the worst movie I have seen, at least in theatre.

I have some new additions to my list of worst films ever these are

The Other Guys - lets face it Will Ferrell hasn't made a decent fim since Elf and this is just so so so bad

and

From Hell, johnny Depp stars in this take on Jack the Ripper, so so so so so so so rubbish, I would rather have an intimate encounter with a chain mail glove laced in deep heat then watch that rubbish again!!!

Little Fockers, dire, need I say more!!!

The Sourcerers apprentice, so confusing and really not Nic Cage's finest moment.

One of the most inaccurate movie titles was "Krakatoa, East of Java" - (Krakatoa being west of Java).

:p

Hix

In fairness, it's east of Java as well - just a looooong way east! :D

The Other Guys was fantastic, as was Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, and, of coure, Anchorman.

All the Free Willy movies are terrible and gave an uninformed public the idea that marine mammals could be released without intensive rehabilitation.
A poor capuchin monkey is degraded in Hangover 2.

lol, I hated Elf and I thought The Other Guys was great! And as KCZooFan says, also Anchorman and Talladega Nights.

Disaster Movie- It fits it's name perfectly-it really is an utter disaster. One of the most unfunny movies-no wit just immature poorly done jokes which seem they have been written by a three year old. Absolutely appaling-so rare Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans.

The Golden Compass- Not awful just hugely dissapointing. the books are fantastic but the film was just average-over use of CGi and crushed together-far too fast.

Cirque Du Freak-Another great book ruined by a simple terrible film. The move to America doesn't work and the acting is woeful.

Star Wars I/II: The originals are fantastic and number three is quite good. however these two are just rubbish-bad plotting even worse acting and dialogue (Anakin Skywalker!!!) and the worst movie character ever in that CGI montrosity Jar jar Binks.

There are probably other worse movies but theseare one sthat I have seen and really annoyed me!

Count me in on that opinion, though there are certain aspects of both of these films that I think are still pretty cool (obviously we have Darth Maul and that epic duel at the end) - other than that I think episode one was the worst. I think Episode two really picked up though when the clone wars had begun and the huge battle at the end had begun - something immense about seeing about 500 jedi arming themselves and charging towards god knows how many battle droids. Episode three is one of my favourites actually, definately on a par with the originals and it seems more is happening, with so much narrative in one film.

Episode two is only better in my opinion because we get to finally see Yoda kick ass at the end and all Star Wars Fans have been waiting for that scene for years.

Rubbish films,

All Free Willy's never managed to watch any until the end
Transformers - a waste of 2 hours of living
Rocky 5 - They took it too far
2nd & 3rd Matrix films
28 weeks later - rubbish in comparison to 28 days later
Starship Trooper films - dear me
King Kong (Peter Jackson version) - 1933 version still the best by miles.

this article just appeared on NZ Yahoo: The 10 biggest movie flops of 2011 (so far) - Yahoo!Xtra Movies

The only two on the list I've even heard of are Sucker Punch and Green Lantern (I had no wish to spend my money on watching the latter, given that even the trailer - which almost by definition is composed of clips of a movie's best bits to make it look awesome - made it look like utter garbage).

Agree that "Cloverfield" was rubbish, relying on a gimmick similar to Blair Witch. And another dog from last year "Skyline".
yeah I just saw Skyline last week. I'd heard it was bad but wow, what a steaming pile of celluloid excrement. And then just when you think its got as bad as an alien movie can get, they give you "that" ending.

Battle Los Angeles looked infinitely better from the trailer (more gritty) but sadly was just another derivative paint-by-numbers piece of rubbish.

Another, more obscure, one I saw recently was Eden Log, a French movie from 2007. Kind of weird and confusing.

Some "recommendations" of zoologically related bad movies. Would recommend the Mystery Science Theater versions as they are infinitely more entertaining than the unaltered source material:

1. "The Giant Gila Monster": giant gila monster rampages through a small Southwestern US town.
2. "The Killer Shrews": a group of people is stalked by giant killer shrews on a desert island. The shrews are played by dogs in giant killer shrew costumes.
3. "Teenagers From Outer Space": Earth is invaded by a militaristic group of teenagers from another planet and their space monster. The space monster is played by a crayfish, enlarged with special effects.
4. "Attack of the Giant Leeches": giant leeches lie in wait in a Florida swamp which looks curiously like the Los Angeles County Arboretum.

I just watched the third Transformers movie last night so time to bump this thread I think. Now I never watched the original cartoon series and I can't tell most of the robots apart, but honestly there is literally zero emotional attachment in this movie. Big CGI robots smashing each other up? Who cares who wins? One of the good robots gets killed... who cares, its just a big CGI robot! I am on record in this thread as loathing both the earlier installments but this one takes the cake with one of the stupidest moments in all action movie history when dead-eyed Rosie Huntington-Whiteley eaves-drops on the bad robots' plan through a telescope!!

Another really bad one recently watched was 2010's The Lost Future with Sean Bean. Lord Of The Rings it ain't!

One I haven't seen but am quite anxious to, is Southland Tales: read the abridged version on The Editing Room, it sounds hilarious! Southland Tales: The Abridged Script | The Editing Room

What about this turkey, a werewolf film featuring thylacines!
Howling III (1987)
I've watched this one recently too -- its brilliant! The acting is so incredibly bad its almost hypnotising. The special effects are mind-blowing in their, er, "specialness". And the dialogue is sparkling in its wit -- "My step-father tried to rape me, and he's a werewolf." You must have to admit too that the birth scene was absolutely fantastic, right down to the girl creating a saliva trail for the baby were-thylacine to crawl along to reach the pouch!
