Worst Zoo in the U.S. You've Ever Been To

Though not as bad as many others on here, the shabby Phillips Park zoo in Aurora, Illinois is certainly the most unpleasant facility I have seen in person. besides the wolves and elk, every exhibit was a mess and I have no plans to ever return to this establishment.

The goat/turkey and owl exhibits don't look bad.

The Everglades Wonder Garden is a horrible abysmal dump that actually trapped animals out of the local River, put them on display till they died and would purchase whatever stolen exotic animal the local crackheads brought to the park

Right down the road the Naples Zoo did the same thing with manatees back in the day and even though they have modernized it's still a rank roadside Zoo run by profit hungry investors. Their giraffes literally don't have a barn, it's a giant carport in the tumultuous humid South Florida weather.

All the Everglades Airboat Tours keep a collection of animals for display and are some of the worst parks in the nation

I always got a kick out of how the state lied to the public about who let all those exotic animals loose

They tried desperately to blame the pet industry but slowly and surely the truth got out when people asked who was releasing Nile crocodiles and monkeys.

The fact is that all these craphole poorly regulated Zoo parks we're losing animals all the time and not reporting it

And of course whenever a big hurricane struck lots of animals escaped their ramshackle enclosures.

80% of the released Exotics in Florida come from illegal dealers and crap hole animal parks only a tiny percentage are released pets who were purchased in a retail setting

There are other factors that would make a zoo, "the worst"
besides cage like exhibits.
poor care
poor nutrition
poor shelter
poor climate ( musk ox in Florida -as an example- I've never heard of that particular example)
indiscriminate breeding (immediate family members, hybrids)
other abuse (physical mental)
no enrichment

I can't remember the name of the place, but it was pretty much a roadside attraction in Georgia that was made of a bunch of pits with bears in them
