Yorkshire Wildlife Park Yorkshire Wildlife Park New arrivals

I gather there isn't a particular date in mind for the other pair just yet. With there being 2 enclosures Vladimir will have one and Elsa will have the other, at least to start with. If / when there's a successful introduction then the second enclosure will become free.

With the planning permission due on the leopard enclosure soon and work progressing fast on the south american walkthrough and other enclosures the place will soon be unrecognisable to anyone who hasn't been for a while.

How many Leopard enclosures are they're to be?

There's going to be one enclosure with a 10 metre high climbing frame at the centre of it. It'll be behind the tiger enclosure. I understand the plan is to have the 3 brothers to start with (who have already arrived) before eventually finding a mate for one of them and sending the other two boys off to other zoos. I think it'll be one of their most exciting projects during the next year or so.

Can anyone let me know how young Vladimir is settling in since his trip down from HWP?

any photos of his enclosure available for me to look at?

There are a few pictures of him and some comment here

and pictures of the enclosure in the YWP Gallery

I think he was not happy at first, understandably as he was kept in for a while. He was a bit timid & hid for a while when they first let him outside (he dashed back in to grab his food when no one was looking & came back out again). He seems to have relaxed more since then and should soon be meeting his potential mate.

I should hopefully be visiting sometime next week. Haven't been since this time last year!

There should be at least 22 lechwe ;)

On that thought - anyone know if the sitatunga have moved yet?

Apparently the meerkats have been fighting & the boys are in with the mongoose according to someone who visited this week.

Sitatunga have definitely moved down to a new enclosure just before you reach land of the tigers. Only spotted a couple of them though, one male one female, don't know what happened to the rest.

Sayan certainly looked well settled on the news just now, out in the enclosure laid on her back with her legs in the air. Can't wait to go and take a look at the weekend.
