Not seen it mentioned but apologies if it has.

The park have recently submitted a planning application for the area of woodland between the lemurs and hunting dogs to house 5 rescued arboreal animals. It states on the application that due to the sensitive nature of the rescue and the animals involved they can’t be named at this time.

It seems to be a simple house with 6 separate enclosures with a 3m high fence and a raised walkway around the outside to aid viewing.

Going to be really interesting to see what happens with this and what the species may be, it does mention that their diet is meat, fruit and vegetables and that they will be treated in a similar manner to the other carnivorous species held.
 
VERY interesting and potentially exciting news! Could it be another cat species I wonder?
 
The strange thing is 6 separate enclosures for 5 Arboreal animals and what might make it sensitive ? If they're bothering with a raised walkway, it must be something fairly significant, which rules out raccoons, which may qualify as sensitive . Could it be a primate that eats meat?

I personally think the fact it’s sensitive is because it’s another rescue operation and after recent failed attempts with polar bear rescues they’ve learnt their lesson and are trying to do it in secret rather than the media making a big fuss and potentially changing the other parties mind. It does say that they are currently kept in poor conditions and are in a bad state.

If it wasn't for the rescue angle I'd be thinking of Fossa here, but can't see there being any in need of rescuing like this - open to being proven wrong though, and that would be a species I think would be a very nice addition!

I'm torn between some sort of bears or a cat (leopard? jaguar?) at the moment, but can't decide. Its exciting though and I really hope it happens!

I think given it's a rescue, bears are the most likely (do Jaguar or Leopard eat fruit & vegetables ? Not sure) . It could be a meat eating primate though.
 
If they are arboreal animals, it means they mainly live in trees! This could include some monkeys, sloths, koalas, possums and carious other smaller animals. Personally I would love to see sloths......... apart from the fact that they are obviously in poor conditions hence the rescue.
 
My bad, I was forgetting the fruit part... bears do seem most likely then. If it was a primate or something small like Red Panda, I doubt they would be referring to treating them in a similar manner to their other carnivores.

Jasper has arrived safely at YWP along with another younger male and Dayo and Hodari have left for their new home today. It is my understanding from one of the hoofstock staff that Jasper has arrived to begin his retirement from the breeding programme.
