Excellent news. It was a toss up between wolverine and pallas cats. I have seen the wolverine at Highlands and they are adorable.
I love both species - but truth be told I would have preferred the cats![]()

I'm glad someone said it...I mean I could be completely wrong, but this is something even the carnivore team is unaware of at YWP. Yes two keepers visited recently but that was just purely a personal trip. A lot of the time we will visit zoos and be shown around by friends or keepers at other collections. If this is an actuality, I can't see it happening for a while. Other new species will be taking precedence at the moment

I couldn't agree with you more!Just a tad frustrating when speculation comes in without any actual fact. Especially spreading news that isn't actually true. I think this needs to be looked at as the feeling towards this site from keepers can be viewed as negative at times because of this type of thing

I wonder whether they were confusing Yorkshire with another UK zoo that may be due to receive wolverine from CWP and elsewhere?Perhaps the member who posted the false information could explain why?
A great thing about Yorkshire wildlife park is that almost every animal is on the map, and quite easy to locateI'm on my way to YWP today for a photography workshop, but will have some time to wander around. I've only been once or twice before as it's a bit of a trek for me. With limited time, is there anything specific that anyone would recommend as a 'must see'?
I am open to all suggestions, but particularly thinking of the things that I might miss because I'm unfamiliar with the park.
Thanks.
Thank you! I'll bear it in mind - especially the dole whip!A great thing about Yorkshire wildlife park is that almost every animal is on the map, and quite easy to locate
If you have limited time, you should probably skip the walkthroughs as there can be some queues to get into them, the main must see species for me are the roloway guenons, which are at the top of the park, and the red howler monkeys, which are mixed with the anteaters, I’d also recommend the pineapple dole whip, they're amazing!![]()
The sea lions' impending arrival has now been officially confirmed by YWP: Security Check Required
I wouldn't say it's "throwing money around", these plans will have been in place for many months, and likely years... So the money was probably already spent before the crisis.I'm really surprised by the way YWP keep throwing money about at a time when most zoos are worried about just keeping going through the winter. In addition to the numerous new additions to the animal collection, they've announced a big Christmas event (lanterns or similar), booked more concerts for next summer already and they always seem to be recruiting!
