Yorkshire Wildlife Park Yorkshire Wildlife Park News 2020

Someone was saying he's moving on the 18th but I don't know on how good an authority they have this information!
That sounds about right. I heard they are trying to complete all the moves before end of the year and possible Brexit complications. Sad Nissan and Pixel are going but at least they are staying together. I heard Nissan is going to be paired with Pixel’s sisters.

With the arrival of Hamish, two of the current polar bears, Nissan and Pixel have left the collection to go to France.
According to the forum Les Zoos dans le Monde Nissan and Pixel arrived at Cerza who is home to two females.

As La Flèche received a new male Aron from Tallinn Zoo, I wonder if Taïko, the resident male, will not move to Yorkshire ?

Do you think ywp will get elephants as part of there expansion
I very much doubt it. Lots of people have asked this question, including me but everyone has said there are no plans. Keeping elephants in a proper way is very difficult and even the better ones have had problems Although YWP are notoriously secretive, I don’t think it will happen any time soon.

Announced on social media that polar bear Rasputin has departed YWP for Tallinn zoo in Estonia. How many are left at YWP?

Does anyone know if the sealion enclosure is ready yet. Sure whipsnade said the sealions would move on in November but lockdown might have changed this.

I’d have thought so, YWP don’t always announce things immediately

Perhaps they want to give them time to bed in, so to speak, before they make any announcements.
Unfortunately the brown bear episode springs to mind as they didn't live long after their rescue.
No blame on YWP I think they were just too far gone due to mistreatment in the past.

When I visited around 3 week ago it didnt look finished at all

I'm lazy and didn't read the full article posted by Dave, but it does say another facility is still being sought. It wasn't clear either that Anori is a female, only saying that they "have not paired, despite some exercises" .... at least they managed to keep fit in their small enclosure.

Just to let anyone interested know, Luka has now met the other two polar bears Nobby and Hamish and they are getting on great.
We saw nobby and Luke interacting today was great to see hamish was just wandering around lol
